Not ringers, just acquaintences.

Considering we were one of the smallest teams to begin with, I don't think asking people to join our team and suddenly being 2nd in population constitutes as bringing in 'ringers' .

Ever play ball out in the field in elementary school or grammar school and two leaders picked teams? Well the leaders picked all the best first and so our small team decided to bring in some friends from a different town to even the score.
