Sounds like the C3DG Directory which I'm currently in charge of. I'd be willing to work on this. |
Great! Here is what I have in mind (sorry, I do not feel like searching through the DG forums... if I am suggesting what is obvious to you, accept my apologies):
A thread giving a chronological summary of all the polls posted. One post/entry per poll, edited by yourself according to the actual progress of individual polls. I would let yourself decide on the precise format, but we need the following info to be included:- Name of the poll - preferrably clickable, so that anyone wishing to vote just clicks the poll name to get to it. A good idea might be to use different colors for closed polls and polls still open for voting. Like red for active and black for closed, or whatever - would be really easy then to check what's currently up.
- Binding Status - two options: Binding, Non-Binding (for the President/Ministers to respect)
- Duration - from DATE1 to DATE2
- Result - brief summary of the poll result
- perhaps Notes, wherever necessary
I suggest you use the same system as I did with the Chronicle & Guidelines thread. Set up something like a "Poll Directory" thread that will be the real thing. That thread would be yours to post in ONLY. Then put up another "service" thread (like "Discussion for Poll Directory thread") that would serve for whatever members might wish to discuss regarding the main thread.
In exchange for your (hopefully continuing) efforts, I propose you be awarded the title of The Guardian of Polls.

That's okay. Although I was thinking a lot of what you suggest (though not all of it), I look at that as a case of great minds thinking alike (If you want to see what the C3DG Directory looks like, click here.)

That's pretty much like the Civ3 Demogame, except for each poll having its own post (but without topping, that would be necessary to keep the thread), and the descriptions (which wouldn't be too hard).
I'll see if I can work on it this weekend. I've found with the C3DG Directory, it's only hard if you play catch-up; once you get up to speed, it's pretty easy to manage.

Pleeeaaasee tell me I do not have to go this far. If I do, I resign my commission:
quote:
Peoples of the Empire of Germany:
Greetings and good will from the humble and brave people of Spain, the jewel of the Iberians, the crown of the Visigoths, the one light in our own small area of the world. The golden ring in the nose of el toro, so to speak.
I wish to humbly put forward greetings and good tidings from the people of Spain, a people who hold your own incredibly cultured and generous people in the highest respect. With love, we are here to formally cement the feeling of good will between our people. However, this is only formality, as I know that our two people share so much in common that they are almost at one in their feelings, and the mutual recognition is more perhaps than between any other peoples.
I, as official ambassador to Spain, sent directly from El Escorial herself, wish to thank you kindly for allowing my presence as envoy to your beautiful country, to meet your fine people, and to embrace your culture almost as my own.
I have sampled now some of your fine delicacies, your wonderful sausage, and, of course, your weiner schnitzel. I was always one for a good piece of veal. I bring for the people's sampling some of Spain's cuisine: Fried Calamari with Onions. I hope your people enjoy this, our perennially favorite food.
I bring with me also some of the fine books of Spain, in order to show you the glorious ways of our people, and to witness the equally glorious ways of the German volk. I am sure that we shall all be soon enjoying a period of peace and prosperity together as the best of friends.
I leave you this message, and I present myself at the royal palace of His Highness, Chancellor von Bismarck. I trust that I will be greeting with such enthusiasm as I greeted Berlin. In truth, I find myself in a place in which I feel almost as at home as I am in Madrid.
Your Humble and Obedient Servant
Hernan de History Guy Calamari
Squid Baron of Madrid
Ambassador to the Glorious Peoples of Germania |
I know some of you really get into this stuff, but come on!

Poor Colonel, you did not know what you volunteered for, did you?
Seriously, they gave us an awesome head-start, 'cause they either sent a wrong ambassador to us, or have no idea about that we are playing Carthage...
Colonel, THEY are role-players, we are not. It is up to US to accept their style or not. If I were you I would put together a diplomatic note to (Y)OUR taste, not theirs.
For now, I suggest you write them a short, very polite note, explaining their ambassador lost his way, offering him a speedy ship and a skilled captain that will take him to Germany...

Role Players should know that we are Carthage, after all we made a deal with them to get Carthage. And you dont have to write a reply like that, they are just role playing team and that is what the do.
