I know this was discussed and essentially decided on back in the main forum, but I thought that for the benefit of our new members, as well as for the record, we should make this official.

Ah, I'll second that vice-presidential nomination for Spiffor as well! Though, while we're on the subject, how do you all feel we should handle elections and appointments? Do we want to do general concensus, or go by strict votes. Since we're a small team, I think discussion and general agreement should work out just fine.

Spiffor: glad we're in agreement. I think that will be the most efficient method of getting things done.

As for other matters, I suppose we should also take the opportunity now to nominate for the other positions.

To recap, one more time, the ministerial positions (as I believe we all agreed on?)

Minister of the Interior
Defense Minister
Minister of Labor
Minister of Science/Budget

Nimitz, you can be the ambassidor to RP team. I think it is a good idea to have ambassidors to the other teams.
How does anyone feel about having a foreign minister as well?

One thing about who ever will be the Abassidor to the Glory of War team. I would like to have someone in that possition that is very skilled diplomate and has a strong backbone, we need someone who will not cave in, even when our destruction seems near. Does anyone here feel like they are up to that??

about vice president

Spiffor I would like it very much if you could be the vp, but there might be a problem. Usually the main funiction of the vp is too play the game when the president is not there to play the game. So if you dont have ptw that might be a problem.

Also I think we should come up with a consitution for our team, so everyone knows how things will be runned. We dont need one that is 100 pages long, but simple and to the point. I know that you might say that this is uneccessary, but I am thinking into the future when problems might come up.

Jack: Good point about the VP. Though, I believe Spiffor said he should PTW sometime in the next week? But, if not, perhaps we should reconsider on purely practical grounds.

As for a Foreign Minister, I think that with ambassadors to each team, a Foreign Minister would be kind of redundant. If an ambassador has a problem, he can bring it to the team. No need to create an extra level of bueracracy.

As for an ambassador to the Glory of War... well, I was thinking that I might like to be the one to Gathering Storm, but I'd be willing to consider GW. The only thing is, I don't really know some of those people as well as the rest of you. Though, I suppose that could be advantageous...

Well for the Foreign Minister I was thinking that the person could keep track of all the deal we have with all other civs. They can make reports for the rest of us taken form info from ambassadors, and the Foreign Minister can be a ambassador to anther team too.
I dont know, I just like having one arround since most countries have one, and just wanted to do it for fun.
But if you guys dont want it I wont force it on you. Just ideas I have.

Oh, I hadn't thought of it in that context. That actually makes quite a bit of sense. Someone really should keep track of all the deals, and have the ambassadors report into them centrally. I stand corrected!

I don't have PtW, and I may not have it for a long time (this Infogrames m*******s just postponed its release in the UK to Dec. 6, and I deel they'll postpone it more )
So, being VP is currently impossible for me. I don't know what function to play... I'm not enough of a diplomat to be assigned to the Glory of War (I'm too straight to the point for diplomacy), so I might be budget + science minister if nobody else wants to.

I did mention something once about being defence minister but if someone else wants it early on in the game I'll step aside. I like the idea of a Foreign minister to coordinate the ambassadors and chair the discussions on foreign policy. So I'm happy to do that as well/instead of defence.

ps I can never remember how to spell defence/se!

I'd like to be labor or defense minister, but these portfolios are a bit sensitive, given the fact that the minister simply must be here to do what he has to do. I might not have the time sometimes to do this.

Which reminds me a problem: what if one minister is not around when he's needed?
Possible solutions:
1. For each minister we should appoint a vice-minister (we are enough members, I think) who would take care of the minister's duty
2. The President and/or the VP would overtake some portfolios (for ex: President: Defense + Foreign; VP: interior + labor)
3. The rest of the government in a lump would take over the missing minister's responsabilities.

What do you think?

I could be also science minister, but I don't mind being a simple citizen. It doesn't matter too much for me, as long as I have a word to say

The minister does not strictly need to be here. What would happen is that the minister for defense say, would make the decision to move tropps which would be carried out by whomever is playing the turn, the President most likely. Of course it would be ideal if all members were present to deal with unforseen circumstances but most unforseen circumstances are forseeable with a little foresight

Well for example the defence minister not being available when we get attacked, foreign minister not available when we meet another civ (although I suppose thats what diplomats are for). I think we should always have a defensive plan of action at the very least.

What do you suggest that we should plan for such unforseen situations? What shall we do if the ministers are not available? Is the president who replaces the missing minister? Somebody else?

OK guys, we're in need of some people here :

We still don't have a Head Engineer (labor minister) or a Military Architect (minister of defense), depending on what Tiberius decides. This is a needed position from the beginning of the game, since a worker will be the only unit we'll be able to move for several turns

We need 4 more Ambassadors : to Lux Invicta, Glory of War, Demogyptica, and Jon Miller's team.

Spiffor, Redstar1 has said it earlier that he'd like to be Foreign Minister rather than Minister of Defense.

I applied for the following positions: Labor, Defense or Science, whichever you (the citizens) think I'm more suited for.

PS. I can't get used to the new titles: Head Engineer, Master Builder, etc.

Spiffor, the Military Architect is the Minister of Defense not Minister of War. We are builders, not warmongeres

If somebody wants one of those 2 available ministerial positions, I'll take the other.
