I was in the process of addressing the 2 new member requests when Poly went down yesterday. I did not have a chance to post on this topic later on.

We had a request from ThePlagueRat in the thread Mesh started. He asked on the 17th.

flash9286 asked on the 18th.

1 more would bring us to an odd number (which we want). I suggest we accept PlagueRat. I told flash that he should find a spot elsewhere and not wait for us. I can always ask him in if you all wish, but I am not in favour of it.

And uh, I daresay, that uh, the flash wouldn't join us now. hehe

ARen't there a couple that signed up in the thread but haven't been seen since?

ThePlagueRat .....hmm, he asked first so we should let him in first, and then seal off the membership for a time, at least until the rest of the teams even out a bit with ours in terms of population.
I thought TPR was going to start his own team though? I suppose you'd best PM him NYE to find his intentions....

the flash has what i'd like to call 'issues'. That said I don't think we need him on our team. He seems a bit too....'jump to conclusions'-like. Although many of us are probably like that in some ways, he pretty much burned his own bridge to the GS....

YES where are the rest of the team that signed up in the very very beginning? I asked about them earlier, but nobody seems to know. Like OPD for example....? What happened to him?

I gathered that. He took that incident way too personally. Not the type that I would want on my team. I would hate to thinkwhat he would say if we didn't pick his choice in civs....

OPD told me he would not be here much for a while. I find that entirely acceptable. He did a lot for the C3DG and I am completely happy having him on board.

At a certain point we should look at what to do about inactive members. My suggestion would be to bring in new recruits as needed to keep the level of participation healthy. Inactive people can return when they have time. If this game is like the others, we will see people coming and going so it should all balance out on the whole.

I think that is a good way to handle the situation.

this game will potentially take a long time, so whatever we can do to keep it a "democracy" game for the duration is good for me.

We have done so quite awhile ago in the 'official team thread', where it was stated that new members are a team decission.

Chamonix has been on-line a couple of times without checking in. (pm-tracking told me so). So he might have changed his mind.

ManicStarSeed has asked, and he would be a good team mate from what I know. And since TPR went to the RP team, that spot is open.

As far as PR is concerned, I should hope that other teams do not hold us being selective against us. And if they do, too bad; let them take on any and every waif who floats by and see how it effects their game performance. According to Trip, LI is doing the same thing (we chat now and then).

What happens when a hot head asks and is declined is not a problem from my POV. GF would find fault with whatever we do. I would be more than happy to manage these things in the main GS thread. All I would ask is that membership enquiries be left for me to deal with.

Of course, I thought this was implicitly assumed by all of us. It's a lot better if our Poobie deals with all these questions, instead of a whole bunch of guys with different opinions stumble over their feet trying to voice their personal views...

I don't think the power of accepting members should fall to anyone in our team, save for the Grand Poobah which is of course NYE.... I personally don't want that responsibilty of screening members...

At this point we needn't worry about the opinion of the rest of the teams regarding new memberships and the GS....

Most of the teams in the last 2 days have accepted new members, check out LegoLand they're at 14 now! The only real protests it seems have come from the Glory of War team, and at this point we can write them off as jealous of the rest of the teams if we wanted to play that card...

Obviously, I also say let nbarclay in, since I'm the one who PMd him.

I had also sent an invitation to jshelr at the same time, but after he did not check his messages for a couple of days I cancelled the PM because our group was getting very large.

I sent no other invitations to people that have not already joined.
