	Map Preview: 140x140 Earth Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Thought I would post a preview of my new 140x140 map here for you guys.



It is in the initial phases so there will be a lot of changes. But I think I got Europe to where I want it.

I used the bmptobic tool this time using a bmp of my 180 map and that tool while useful leaves a lot to be desired. The best thing I can say about it is that it puts the land masses where I need them.

oh, i'm looking forward to this... it's not as big as other maps, but big enough for 16-24 civs.

wonderful!

but i do have the feeling that eastern europe is too small.
i can't immagine bulgaria, romania and other countries so much smaller than greece (which imho is too big. peleponnes should just be 1 tile surrounded by sea except the northern tile).

also, iceland should be reachable by galley (eric the red got there over the northern route and he didn't go on any suicide mission )

As you can see I am almost finished with it. All I have left to do is touch up the Pacific Isalnd chains. Then I will release the clean, no resource, no goody huts, not barbarian camps, no start locations version for people working on scenarios. I will then work on a resource version.

please add one or a few rivers in central africa: the kongo, maybe the niger river.
also, i'd place a river in italy, because they can't irrigate otherwise (surrounded by mountains and hills --> no irrigation linkage possible)

otoh, imho the amazonas has a bit too many branches in comparison to other rivers.

Woops, forgot about the rivers in Africa and I will add a river in Italy and Greece. I am also planning on pushing the Rockies in Canada a bit further West and removing those mountains from Finland. I got a little carried away there.

oh yeah.... one more thing... is japan really only hills and mountains? how the hell do they fit 150 million people in those highlands

i'm not sure about following: but aren't the ural-mountains just north of the caspian sea and not north of the aral sea? that would mean the mountain range would be 2-3 tiles further to the east. but as i said: i could be wrong as i don't have a map around, just my memory

Regarding Japan: Yep, pretty much. They fit that many people on the islands by stacking them really close. No joke. The average living space in Japan is really, really small.

Regarding the Urals: They actually start sort of in between the two bodies of water.

I need to put in the rivers and fix the Pacific Islands. It probably won't be released until sometime next week at the earliest.

I just released the Clean version for modders. You can get that here.

It has no resources, barbarian camps, goody huts or player start locations. Those are left up to the scenario designer to place. I will be working on a version with resources and hope to have it out before the end of the year.

i know where paris, washington and beijing are, but i don't know where all resources come from
