The Russian army has won two naval victories over the helpless Swedes nad Romanians.

In other news: The Kremlin has been stripped of all Imperial insignia nad works of art, which seem to have dissapeared overnight.

Spain Declares Neutrality!

In an unexpected move, Spain declined all offers of alliance and declared neutrality. We are doing this because of new Spanish isolationism fever by the spanish people, and also to make sure we do not get dragged into war.

But then, who to ally with? Obviously the Continental alliance is superior to the Oceanic alliance, so if I ally with the Continental I will have strong neighbors. But the people might want to ally with the Oceanic so as to make a balance...

Well, nuetrality has worked before, see the first AoW game. Only recently has Spain in that game joined an alliance system. Now that she's a part of an alliance system, backing off however will be a bit harder without having another France happen. So Kawa Yannes acknowledges Spanish nuetrality.

...yeah, but then France declared 'neutrality' and 'isolation', and they got wiped out a few turns later by three countries. Even if Spain survived in that game, AoW 1 isn't exactly a story of successful isolationism.

Uh, France doesn't count. Why? They HAD an alliance and broke it off, pretending that tensions weren't already high between her and the CEU (hey, thats me!). France was a case of how NOT to back out of an alliance, especially considering the possibility of war. To my knowledge, Spain isn't being targeted by anyone, and she has an honorable reputation regarding not backing out of already agreed upon alliances. Of course, given the political sphere here, who knows what the continental alliance may do?

Conference Held in Madrid

The Leaders and many of their aunterage (how in the world do I spell that bugger anyway?) of the Oceanic Alliance met today in Madrid to discuss the acceptance of Spain into the alliance.

It was made clear that the alliance was not set up to eliminate anyone, but for mutual defense. Anyone warmongering within the alliance without concensus of the others should and will be kicked out to fend for herself.

Once that was cleared up, the alliance members voted 3-0 to let Spain into the Oceanic Alliance. 'Hopefully,' Kawa Yannes said, 'our nations can grow together in mutual defense and grow strong that we may take our rightful places among the titans of Europe.'
