hello civman, Ive voted for a sub forum on civ3 stories. I think you should announce this poll on the stories forum with a link to it so that all the people who use the stories forum can take part in the voting process.

Hope you get a satisfactory conclusion to this issue.

I'd like a new fourm, but there just arnt enough players to warrent one. A sub fourm would most likely be the best option.

No... there isn't enough activity to warrent a NES only forum. So you can vote all you want, they are staying right here.

In the future, I will not be moving NES stories from the Civ III forum to here... I will just delete them since they no longer belong in the Civ III Stories Forums.

WHat's wrong with having tehm in the civ3-stories forum then? If they belong here then about a fifth (baseless estimation) of the stories there would also belong here.

They were moved here because "somebody" wanted them out of the Civ III forum. And frankly, they don't belong there. So it was agreed to move them here since a seperate forum doesn't make sense.

I see no need to move them back, or allow them in two different places.

Well, anyway, could you please post and top a thread in Civ3 stories boards claiming that NESes were moved, so people who weren't here for longer could see that and don't search/post new NESes in Civ3 stories boards?

No... there was request made by some NES players to have a seperate forum... As can be seen from the low level of activity (civ III stories forum or this one), that wasn't warrented. It was also determinded that NES stories didn't belong in the Civ III forum... true enough.

So some representatives didn't seem to mind having them moved here.

As you can see, this forum is just waiting for you guys to take charge. There aren't even enough threads going back 10 days or so to fill up the front page. It should make it easier to find the threads...

Since you can't have your own forum... and since it seems like you can take over this one... go for it.

A reasonable and excellent suggestion. It has been done. I've topped the thread and closed it. All NES discussions should now be in this forum. I will leave it topped for awhile until people are aware of the change.

However, I also deleted the old poll thread that provided a link to this forum since it is no longer needed

Thanks for toping the thread Ming. I know that there is a lot of people who want to play NES, but a lot of things happened to kill the ones that were going on. I was thinking about starting my own. BUt I dont know.

honestly i don't like them here because posts in S+D generally mean results for a dip game...but whenever I see a new post I come in and it's another NES post. That bugs me I guess...

Ming Im one of those who does not wish to see these nes's on the stories forum but have you considered a sub forum similar to the one at civfanatics attached to the civ3 stories section.

Although you say Apolyton is not a democracy would it not make sense to consider an option that would please all involved.

The one thing I see yourself and other mods on these forums get annoyed about is the mindless ranting that goes on in some places, but you will not see any of that here. This has so far been a reasonable debate and as a mod you shaould be prepared to take on board these opinions.

Is it not possible to have a sub forum ? or is this site not as sofisticated as fanatics. I know you go there I see your name on their members active quite often are you checking out the nes's ?

Ming: I think you misunderstood my question. I was asking why other stories with as much or less to do with civ than ness do get to stay in the civ3-stories forum ness have to come here. When i said "stories" i meant regular stories, not NESs.

Sure it's possible... just not warrented due to the low level of activity. If every little sub group had their own little sub forum, we would have thousands of them, making it almost impossible for any new comer and even regular members to easily navigate the site.

You guys can barely keep 5 or 6 threads active over a 10 day period, and you think this justifies a seperate forum

And as to whether the current civ III stories are more civ III then NES stories... a matter of opinion. However, yours specifically are NES stories... so it's easy to say that yours aren't Civ III stories

I totally agree with Ming after seeing what the dude had to say. I think this is the best place for yer little NES's because it's called stories & diplomacy and that's exactly what nes's are: stories of unending diplomacy.

Creating a subforum is senseless. It's human nature to needlessly make things complicated (ludicrous government bureaucracy, tax forms for a couple). I used to work in a bank. Most long-term customers had 4 to 6 accounts in the same bank. Plus they had the same arrangement at several other banks for a total of 16 to 24 accounts per average person!!!

You see when I saw NES on the topic list I thought "Hey, 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System! Cool!" Imagine my surprise when I read this thread.

But after reading all this stuff it seems there's a lot of contriversy about this, so now you've all got me interested. (suckers! ha ha!)

So my really stupid question, what does NES stand for?

Well even if everyone wanted the NES in CIv3 story forum, they are not going any where, the mods have made that clear. So i would not worry about that.
