And thus begins the ancient Spanish proverb warning people against trying to be expert in more than one field, “Squidseller, stick to your squid”.

Senors, I am awaiting the decision of the despot. If he wants the cows, then I shall move back into strictly seafood, and monopolize the fish, scallop, lobster, crab, shrimp, and, of course, squid business. More than before, it shall be my goal to become the only supplier of seafood.
Senor Mitchell, the higher-ups, of course, and members of my establishment. However, this is the higher-ups. Spam Brand is not a major business, I have noted. It's not high-up.
Senor Ronni, as overseer of my workers, of course, gets a nice big juicy steak.

EXCUSE ME!?
From my bio:
quote: Originally posted by Arnelos
While our people were nomadic, the Clemente clan gained distinction mainly by making decent clothing out of the hides killed by others (the hunters). Now that our society is agricultural, the Clemente clan has expanded its interests as merchants into the buying and selling of agricultural goods from farmers. The clan maintains a shop in the market as well as hoping to set up an export business to other regions and tribes. The family, of course, retains interest in the area of textiles.
Lorenzo himself grew up to be a prominent merchant in the newly formed township of Madrid and retains a particular interest in the trade in the delicious fruits native to Iberia and the family's traditional textiles trade (from animal carcasses).
|
In case you had not noticed, the Clemente Clan maintains our own textiles enterprise, one which has been our family's vocation since the days of our early nomad culture.
We do not believe that the textiles market (or any other market, for that matter) is too small to include multiple clans or firms in its trade, but certainly would be offended if anyone would deny the very existence of our long-standing work in this area...
That said, the clan's traditional textiles interests HAVE been eclipsed by the growth of our interest and financial stake in the transport of agricultural goods to market and their sale there.

Attention All: With my father recently proclaimed as Lord Togas' Chief Warrior, he will no longer be running the daily operation of the Master Weapon Shop of Madrid.
I, his second son, Dijon, have been entrusted to take charge of the family craft and shop. I have worked alongside my father for many years, as all my brothers have, and have obviously proved myself to be the best weapon maker of the bunch. Even the firstborn, my brother Poupon, can not match my skill, and has been charged to be father's errand boy in his new duties.
Do not fear that quality or prices will change - they will not! If anything, quality will continue to improve, as it has done throughout the family history.
High Priest Francisco Pizarro de Tacticus: I would be honored to carve your staff. I will give it my full attention today, and you may pick it up tomorrow. It will be a staff worthy of your position. There will be no charge for this service, it is a blessing on this day of change.

Well stop it, that is clothing the women working in their homes, or anywhere. Of course, except for those who, for the sake of eyesite, need to be clothed.
Now, back to my imbibing of sacrificial spirits to the Great Poseidon.

Senor Mitchell, I would if you were not attempting to press charges against me. However, if you were to withdraw those charges, I'd give you some cow, withdraw my charges, and you'd only have to answer for the murder of the late, great Senor Ronni Pikesfan, which may or may not result in a guilty plea, and is out of my hands (not that I should reverse it for such a great friend, advisor, and businessman).
High Priest, whenever you want it. I assume that the Grand Despot has allowed me to maintain custody of the 10,000. Here is a steak with some calamari. Enjoy. And here is a jug of Winterus' wine.

A NEW BUSINESS:
Sancho History Guy Calamari, the youngest son of Hernan the Elder, is opening a new business in the Marketplace. His words at the dedication (to his soon to be late father...) were: "This new business is, like the business founded by Grandpa, revolutionary.
"I am founding offices for myself, Sancho Calamari, Private Investigator. Working with the law, I will, for a modest price, do my best to find solutions to all your mysteries, large (Your brother was murdered? Think it was the Mitchells?) or small (Lost a chicken? Think the Mitchells stole it?), whether the crime has anything to do with the Mitchells or not. Especially not. I shall, every time, find the solution and the answer, with no confusion!
"What do you stand to lose? Hire me to solve the crime today!"
So, please, do try and accomodate my enterprising brother. He has something he calls a 'shard of glass to look through', and so he believes himself to be able to solve any cases. He's probably right.

Señor Sancho, could you find my lost puppy? He is black with a white spot on his tail. I don’t have any money at all. I’m only 7. But I’ve got a big round piece of wood I found you can look through. Can I see your glass? Look, the wood is round and the glass is round too!

Sancho, I urge you, find the murderer of my good brother Henrique Winterius, found dead near a huge hill. At first i tought he may have fallen, but there was a stone over his back! A huge stone! that would be understandable if it was on a mountain, but our hills don´t even have boulders! For the sake of my old father, find him so that justice may be achieved!

Would you like your daughter to be a wife that is an ornament to the household? Then send her to Madame Joaquína Pikesfan’s School of Etiquette. There she will learn:
how to eat squid properly
the proper way of behaving around notables
the nicest way to dress within your husband’s income
how to civilize your husband and get him to go to the Tavern for only one or two drinks and not come home roaring drunk.
Joaquína Pikesfan learned these secrets from the wise women of Los Piraneos and became so accomplished in them that she was granted the honourable title of Madame, which means Mistress of Etiquette. Now she wants to pass them on to you.
Consultations are held at the house of Jordí Pikesfan.

Senor Pikesfan, I'm sending my soon-to-be wed daughter for instruction at your school.
Senor Winterius, my brother says: "Fill me in with the facts. Was he on the hill for a reason? Are there any clues of note? I caught a big professional hit man crawling around the area by the name of Francesco Fall Guy, who I am holding in custody for torture and interrogation. What clues have you? I shall take on this case with all my deductive powers!"
Senor Mitchell, I would not have phrased the advertisement thus, but you are responsible for the soon-to-be murder of my father, and thus my brother Sancho has a very intense hatred of your family. He does not let that in his way, however, nor ever would he. He will be fair to you at all times, unless he finds evidence against you. Senor Pikesfan has died at your hand and my father shall soon also, and so naturally you are the number one suspect. Where it not for your being such a big crime boss, we'd have hauled you to the gallows long ago. However, you are an old man with a very weak heart, and so we have been merciful.

Before he went to the hill, he said that he was to solve a very long lasting family problem trough diplomacy, so he was very happy. Before this, he had been talking to many people around here in the marketplace, and he was also talking with his fiancé about marrying.
they were going to marry tomorrow...
Pardon me for the tears,

How could I be a crime boss? The only person in my entire clan capable of beating up any of you lugs was Thug, and his departure is due none other than to the Calamaris. I do not let personal affairs get into my business.
