Yes, well, I know that technically it's wrong, and all, as we don't have Currency yet, but I think that this would be a valuable spot already none the less for all of our businesses, wine, squid, fruit, inventions, etc., and businessmen to assemble, to barter, to deal, and to act like genuine businessmen (OOC this is Roleplay after all, we have to act like real merchants!! /OOC). Besides, historically the marketplace would have been around since about the dawn of time, at least in the form of the Town Square (or the Greek agora, which might be another suitable title for this spot. Here we have all the city's businesses together to deal with each other, to advertise, and plan to deal, in future, with other civilizations to make money abroad and further the glories of Spain to the barbarian in hopes of civilizing them.
And so, without further ado, welcome to...

Well, the first company to claim a post here at our marketplace (which will, of course, be made much larger and convenient once we achieve Currency) is, naturally enough, Spain's oldest and most famous company, El Squid Company, which sells one of Spain's favorite foods, and without a doubt Spain's most popular sea delicacy, the squid.
At El Squid Company we, with the assistance of our Junior Partner, Nuclearius Winterus, head of El Vino Company (and a common face here at the Market of Madrid), we prepare each squid lovingly with either or famous wine or red sauces. Each small calamari is breaded with crumbs and fried in our large stone pans (it takes only a short time with our magnificiently large stone fireplaces). The squid is then sent to the markets or to Iberian Delight, a famous tavern in the west part of the market on Madrid's main road. The prosperous business has been active since the dawn of time, founded by Juan de History Guy Calamari, the grandfather of the present president, Hernan de History Guy Calamari.
If you buy our products here at El Squid Company, we know that you will not be disappointed!

President of El Squid Company

Theres a empty hut next door. I could always put my number things in the service of all the fine businessmen here... for the reasonable fee of a squid or two, of course...

Buy this wonderfull red sauce, I call it wine. Just taste it, look how good it is*drinks a full pot in one gulp* Ahhh! Delightfull!
And as all can see, Iīm inthis hut near El squid company.
No, you canīt go in there. That small room is were we fermentate the sauce. How can I produce wine enough to feed the squid and the people in such a small room? Hmmm, well, ah c*rse, stop asking so much!
Pot of fine roman wine ====== 3 bones
(A nice pot with plenty of wine... for tavern owners, a special price, buy 50 pots for only 100 bones!)
Pot of mixed wine ========= 1 bone
(Wine resulting from grapes provinient from both roman and spanish grapes, also very good, 50 pots for 30 bones!)
For those who are buying a squid in El Squid, an extra big pot of roman wine for only 2 bones!

Master Weapons Shop
My name is Senor dejon, son of recently deceased Master Weapon Maker of Aragon, Senor Poupon.
I am opening up the family craft to all of Iberia. If you're looking for a superior axe or club - I'm your man. I will also sell common items such as staves and slings, but don't waste my time overly with requests for such, as I have little spare time, as I'm experimenting with some promising ideas my father had for new projectile weapons.
See Price List below.

I can make you a wooden shield and spear, but I don't know what this 'bronze' you talk of is. Now that I'm established in the big city, I do expect to trade information and materials with foreign lands, when possible. For instance, I have heard rumour that in a faraway land, people called the Ottermen (?) are experimenting with melting new minerals.
If you lack proper weapon training, perhaps I can assist you there as well. However, I do think you should respect your elders - I wouldn't be the man, and craftsman, I am today without my great father.

Senor Dejon,
I need a spear. Not just any wooden spear, but a spear made of rock-material, like the kind the whitish-blackish beings poked me with before I got here in Spain. Do you think it could be arranged?

Senor Spamish Mitchell,
I will get to work on it right away. A most interesting order. Weapons are a very interesting field right now.

Master Weapons Shop
Okay, preliminary price list:
Sling: 3 for 1 bone
Stave: 2 for 1 bone
Club: 1 bone
Wood Shield: 1 bone
Wood Spear: 1 bone
Rock Spear: 2 bones
Rock Axe: 3 bones
For now, until such time that I am too busy, weapon maintenance is complimentary. This includes sharpening and tightening fixtures.
This practice of 'pricing' is new to me, as in my hometown of Aragon, most trade was through barter. I am open to barter for those with things to trade, and if I become busy, may even trade for simple labour assistance (gathering materials, etc). However, I will say that the local obsession with squid is not one I share, sorry.
Lastly, the first ten people to place orders will get their first item complimentary, in order to spread not only goodwill, but also samples of my master craftmanship.
So far, I have:
Senor Pedro Peligroso
Senor Spamish Mitchell
Senor Nuclearis Winterus I
Seņor Ronni
Get your orders in quickly folks - I only have two hands!

Seņor Ronni - I will give you 3 slings as your complimentary weapon. By the way, my name is dejon, Dijon is one of my sons name. Speaking of my sons, another of them, his name is Fletcher, and I are working on a new weapon that would serve your purpose well. I'll keep you informed on it's progress.
As for Squid - ick. I didn't get big and strong eating stuff like that. I eat my wife's cooking - and she won't cook what she didn't raise and kill herself.
In response to Seņor Mitchell and for everyone's information, you're weapons will generally be ready the next day. I don't have time to be running out and delivering them, or have money to hire Personal Messengers, so if you can just come back and pick them up yourselves, that'd be grand.
Also, if anyone would like a little more personalized weapon, just let me know. For only 1 extra bone, I'll customize a weapon for your height, arm length, and strength. Then I'll carve something into it for you, like your name, initials, or personal motto.
[OOC]
I was thinking of posting images of my inventory, but couldn't find anything that wouldn't run afoul of copyright infringement by posting them here. Just use your imagination.

I have two deals to make here in the beautiful marketplace I've produced for our government.
In the absense of Senor Clemente, I have contacted his secretary, who will allow onions to be sold for a more expensive price because his master is away and unable to guide him. In haste to introduce to the market FRIED SQUID PIECES, I have agreed, though I expect the Senor to give the little jerk a spanking when he gets back. Fried Squid Prices hit the market tomorrow.
Secondly, Senor Dijon, my amigo, I was very sorry to hear of the passing of your father, Poupon, a good friend in life. I was present, you will recall, at the cremation.
Down to business, Dijon, I find myself in need of a certain weapon which I should like to have made in case of being allowed to serve with the first group of warriors we produce. What I need is a very large stone axe. The handle should be about two feet in length, and made of solid oak. The head of the axe should be huge, depending on the amount of resources you have. I would request obsidian stone. If you do not have any, I will import some. I'd like the axe to be the sharpest possible, and to have carved on the head the Calamari Family motto: "The World Is Not Quite Enough", and the opening words from our epic poem, the Song of Togas. I would be willing to pay 12 bones for this, if that is enough to satisfy you.
Thank you,
Hernan de History Guy Calamari

Seņor Hernan de Calamari, thank you for your condolances. As I pointed out to Seņor Ronni, you have confused my name for my son's. Being an old family friend, you are aware that there are a great many Poupons, Dejon, and Dijons in our family, but being a friend of my father, you may not know that the latter two take offense at being mixed up.
It would be an honor to craft your obsidian great axe. You may have heard about my offer to waive the price on the first item for my first ten customers. Unfortunately, I cannot do this on a custom order, only on my listed items. What I will do is to deduct the standard stone axe price from your price. Also, I will waive the carving fee, because as I said earlier, it will be an honor to craft a Calamari family weapon. So your price is a meager 8 bones. Don't worry about the materials, I have my own contacts. The Calamari Family Great Axe will be ready in 4 days.

Senor Winterus, as I said earlier, you can pick up a standard weapon the day after ordering it, generally. Once I get busier, I'll adjust customer's expectations accordingly.
Huge axe? You brought me an axe to sharpen, and ordered a wooden shield - are you testing my memory? I am big and strong, but not stupid. Hmm. Anyway, your shield is ready and your axe is sharp enough to cut the testicles off a bull with him feeling a thing! They are over there, on the wall.
You don't owe me a thing, as you were one of my first ten customers, and I provide complimentary maintenance (Yes, even on weapons I did not construct.)
* I am starting to think my prices are too low...hmm.
Throwing axes you say? Let me see those arms of yours...will you throw with your left, right, or both? Are you quick on the draw, or precise?
* dejon mutters crafting details/costs/time to himself...
I'll make you 4 individually weighted throwing axes for 9 bones - what say you?
20 bones for a very good axe? You have wealth to squander, eh? Very well. I can make you an axe much like I'm making for Seņor Calamari (top quality), and I'll also personalize it for you, and give you 2 lessons on expert use.
Hmm. You make wine? My wife would probably like some. Put aside 4 bones worth for me to take home, will you?

I must announce that in comemoration for the wonderfull way business are going on, I shall lower the price of the roman wine for 1 bone per pot, and the mixed wine for 1/2 a bone per pot! This means you can buy 2 pots of wine by price of only one! Ainīt it esplendido?

HEre youīve got. You want the best roman wine, I suppose. So itīll be 4 pots of roman wine, then.
Wouldnīt you like to drink some?
As for the weapon, iīd like to die it in black squid ink,and engrave it with this:
Vidi, vini, vinci in nomine Togas!
*testing the spear at a bull*
How wonderfull! He didnīt even noticed when I shreded his testicles!

Fellow Iberians, I hereby announce that the shrine of our spirits will now be open to any citizen who wishes to have a deceased loved one buried, or seek guidance from the spirits. Prayers, requests or donations should be left with the priest on duty and will be passed along as soon as possible.
Senor Hernan de History Guy: I would be most interested in trying this 'fried squid with onion' dish that you are selling.
Senor dejon: The guards around our shrine are complaining of a lack of weapons. They require:
6 slings
12 shields
3 rock spears
3 rock axes
I believe this comes to a total of 24 bones. You may bill the government treasury.

---Written by Thug, temporary representative of Spamish Mitchell---
I'm here to pick up Spamish's weapons, Senor Dejon.
Ooh...Spamish was right...this rock-axe is good...you really should charge more than 3 bones for it.
Same with the rock-spear!
But Spamish has a question: Is your policy that the first ten customers' first order or first item is free? I'll just go ahead and leave the bones for the Rock-Axe and go back to his bed-tent, which he has ordered not to be disturbed. I've heard him talking to himself all morning about the Spam Brand...
He just asked for me to go get a sheep from his farm and the weapons he ordered!
