I mean, were they made 100% from scratch, or they were "stolen" from a game? |
They're from photographs of miniatures.

This made me laugh - again. Either that or it's some kind of Stegosaurus reaction 1 month later.
Anyway, I've done some more 24-bit fantasy units for ToT. Some of these took me a while, with some heavy retouching required. I lost 18 units (mostly ancients) with a corrupt file a while ago and this took some of the steam out of my Civ2 graphic making.
1st row: 5 Viking/barbarian types, sorceress, elf, ranger, female (who'd know) druid.
2nd row: 2 ogres, mummy, shambling mound, mind flayer (illithid), skeleton, giant, orc with polearm, swordsman.
3rd row: mummy (yeah, another one), female, dragon, owlbear, wizard, witch with broom (does she need a hat?), wizard (the original miniature was of Gandalf, but this looks more like Moses parting the Red Sea), 2 dwarves.
4th row: wraith, warrior, wizard (Saruman), ranger, elf (Legolas), berserker/warrior, she-demon/succubus, rogue, warrior/ranger.
Download bmp
...and of course, my obligatory in-game shot:

Edit: Changed a few pixels here and there (nobody will notice), and desaturated the succubus' skin a tad.

Thanks, Curt. You're free to use and/or modify any of the stuff I've released. I'd try to stick to one style for the units, though. A consistent graphical style looks more professional.

Catfish, that looks a bit too blurry. The purple shouldn't be anti-aliased. |
What are you gibbering about, man? The first witch is a bitmap for ToT with no anti-aliasing. The second witch is a gif with the Civ2 palette loaded, also with no anti-aliasing. Proof that people don't read my tutorials (Edit: a reference to a comment in another thread).
Edit: Just a comment about resizing graphics; you really shouldn't resize in 8-bit colour. Increase to 24-bit and then load the Civ2 palette later. In the witch example, I didn't use Resize, instead I sliced pieces off the original, so anti-aliasing wasn't an issue. Unit selection and anti-aliasing removal can be achieved much more efficiently using scripts.

I haven't tried it out, myself, but I figure it will look like a smaller version of the one in the screenshot, above. I'm also unfamiliar with the character, so I hope it fits the bill.

...could someone "recolour" the lady's dress in the attached picture in pink instead of white? |
I remembered this request and thought I'd see how badly it would turn out. I casually replaced the colours in her dress with shades of the available fleshy pink, using PSP's Color Replacer tool. As a result I also had to change her skin colour from pink to tan. It looks a bit nasty. The level of shading has been reduced considerably.
