Here are afew units I cooked up for a civil war era scanrio that never materialized. A Mexican Infantry unit along with Cavalry, a generic 1860's era frigate and a somewhat disapointing attempt at a fairline style Confederate blockade runer.
Now I have some uniform concerns in regards to the Mexicans. I've found conflicting descriptions of Mexican army uniforms, everything from prominantly blue uniforms to green uniforms. I went with the green uniforms in this case, but if anyone could supply me with definitive accounts of their uniform colours I'd be most apreciative.

Here's another Civil War era unit I took a crack at. The CSS Hunley, the first submersible to sink an enemy ship in combat.

Hey guys, i'm in desperate need for some period Italian and Austrian infantry (and cavalry if possible...). I'm looking for units for a certain scenario that will be set in the 1870's but the best source pictures will be from the 1859 war and the battle of Solferino.
Cutting to the chase, these are the units i'm looking for:
(Italians)
Bersaglieri
Cacciatori delle Alpi (Pre-cursor to the Alpini i guess )
Granatieri di Sardegna (Sardinian Grenadiers)
Some information regarding uniforms: Campaign dress was a deep blue, single-breasted, short tunic, edged in crimson; with a deep blue collar with crimson tabs; deep blue pointed cuffs and shoulders tabs, both trimmed with crimson. This uniform was the same for all battalions. Buttons were yellow metal; cords and tassels were green; ties were black. Trousers were white cloth with white leggings.
(Austrians)
Line Infantry
Grenzer (Hungarian/Frontier troops)
Jäger
Dress consisted of a white double breasted tunic (the Waffenrock) with collar, round cuffs, epaulettes, and front and back pockets all piped in the distinctive regimental colour. Hungarian regiments had pointed cuffs adorned with an inverted T-shaped white lace. Buttons were white metal.
In summer a more comfortable fatigue tunic called a kittel was often worn. On this, regimental distinctions were worn in the form of coloured tabs on the collar. Buttons were white.
Trousers were light blue with white piping. They were often turned up, or more often tucked into the black gaiters. Shoes were black. Hungarian regiments wore light blue breeches with black and yellow looping and short black boots.
Generic:
Horse Artillery
Uhlans
Rocket Artillery (Because i like to be different )
Now all considering thats a lot to be asking of the community, if push comes to shove i can probably knuckle down and do these myself (somehow) but i know that there is some AMAZING talent out there.
Obviously i'm going to ask for 'fairline' style units, thanks in advance to anyone brave enough to have read all of my hopeless plea!

Nothing to do with what is being discussed in this topic, but I just wanted to share some units of a scenario I've been working on but not going to finish anyway.
Some are well-known Fairline units, some are slightly modified to better fit August 1914 (such as the trousers of the french infantry), some are heavily modified Fairline units (hard to find any Dutch and Belgian units around (4th and 5th row)), and there's even a completely self-made unit, well except for the horse (the cossack that is farthest to the right).
Maybe anyone can find some use for them...

Cheers, well, the cossack's horse is a bit of a failure really; I couldn't get the front legs to look correctly, and I got bored so I just left it like that, but it looks highly unstable now, as if it can topple over any moment.
Well, I do have an update to my Boer War scenario, but Civ2's AI is so utterly unable to fulfill my wishes that it becomes too unmotivating to work on it.
Particularly my flying artillery shells and the supply of the guns is simply too much to ask from the AI. Also, the AI troop movement orders are impossible to program for a longer run than 15-20 turns, which is a must to fulfill the targets around which my scen was framed.
Therefore... no more scenarios from me (though of course plenty ideas). |
Perhaps make scenarios that are better suited to the AI's abilities?
Still, I hope we continue to see your ideas and new units
