Your Apolyton Name Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

We have done this how many times before in the past? I lost count, but anyway, maybe it's nice to have a review, and also for the benefits of newbies who were not Apolytoners for the last Apolyton name thread.

So, the question is . . . . . what does your Apolyton name stand for, or is it really just a crazy mixture of letters you put together?

My Apolyton name has come to be a message of irony among other Apolytoners.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Nickname of mine because "Dave" is too popular. Everyone is named Dave.

My middlename was originally going to be Asher, but my parents changed their mind (don't ask). But I was rather fond of the name, some of my friends found out about it and started calling me it at first in jr. high because they thought it'd bug me. I liked it, and it stuck because it's easier to summon me by calling "Asher!" than "Dave!" for obvious reasons.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Mr. Fun sighting +1!

To finally get to the bottom of the mystery behind my name (an event Apolyton has been looking forward to for months, no doubt), I must briefly reminisce about my younger, more vulnerable years. When my bro and I were little we always made comics for each other. We each had our various characters, i had Sheriff Martian and Secret Agent Alien and my bro had characters like Rabbit in a box, and Car Guy, and countless others. Well he always had a little spider hidden somewhere in each comic, and this character was known as monkspider. "Monk" was a word he thought was hillarious at the time, so he used it as often as possible, ergo "I have ten monks" instead of ten bucks. Yes, we were strange children. Well the years went by, I got to see him less and less because of family conflicts (he has always lived with my mom, and I live with my dad). Eventually my bro got into some bad things and got in trouble with the law and now I hardly ever see him any more (he grew up with my mom, who is a bad, bad woman, I was quite lucky to be the only kid of my family who got to live with my dad). So whenever I first had to choose an online username, I went with Monkspider, as sort of a tip of the cap to my beloved bro. On one of the rare occasions that I got to see him, I told him about this turn of events and he found it quite amusing. I still have most of the old comics he made and I still look at them from time to time for old time's sake. So the name "monkspider" has a bit of sentimental significance for me I guess you could say. Well, there's my story.

-edit my avatar is now a scanned image of one of my bro's original monkspider drawings.

Mad Bomber is in reference to The late Sir Aurthur Harris who was known to be called Mad Bomber Harris upon occasion. Like him I am a big proponet of Airpower, he missed the boat on fighters though. No one is perfect

A tribute to my literary hero and great novelist, James Joyce. Molly is the sexually charged, loving and loved wife of Leopold Bloom in 'Ulysses'. Her lengthy unpunctuated stream of consciousness monologue ends the novel. She celebrates and affirms the dionysian in life.

I used to go by the handle CYBERAmazon — which I chose because, at the time (and still am, really), was into archaelogy, mythology and whatnot — but changed over to Gatekeeper some time ago. Why? The name's kinda "cool" sounding and, besides, it's what I do IRL (I'm a journalist in the copy editor vein... who are also known as "gatekeepers" in the profession).

My nick at school was Mr Burns, or Burns for short. When I was signing up for Apolyton that name was taken, so I decided to add the a word in front of it. It just so happened that my fiance was calling me a skanky wench as I was trying to think of something appropriate, and the rest is history.

Incidently, my 2-year old niece calls me "Uncle Skanky".

When I came online online in the early days,
I visited a chatroom.
In that chatroom everybody was spamming, screaming, cursing, scrolling etc. etc. etc.

It was the first time I felt shy. ever.
Thus I decided that I obviously was cyber-shy.

it appeared to be not true, btw.

I carried it over from my character on Asheron's Call, who was named Osweld the Brute - and I didn't realise it was spelled with an A at the time. Just as well, though, since the E makes it unique.

from my old days of being an IRC script kiddie

uber is now american-slang for "super" (in german it means "above") and krux is just a mis-spelling of crux, which has 2 defiations. either "the central part of something"(ie an argument), or "a seemingly unsolvable problem".

dpending on how you know me, either one applies.
