"Beatles" legacy of greed. Get a bigger avatar today!

I have been a "Beatles" fan most of my life so this caught my eye in the paper.

Paul wants his name first in the Lennon/Mcartney credits for the "Beatle" songs. Also Paul and Yoko are arguing over the roalties to "Yesterday".

Both these people have enough money that they could wipe there azzes with hundred dollar bills for the rest of there lives and still have money to burn just makes me sic. Greed at its best!

Ya know "Sir" Paul you should have said something about the order of the names when the other party was still alive!

Whats up with this "SIR" sh!T?

Only the wealthy and famous can be knighted?
This display of greed is not very knightly.

I dig that he wants credit where it's due him, but to do it now after all these years, he just seems small and twatish.

It's worth remembering that the Beatles don't control much of their own catalogue -- and that, in fact, much of it is controlled by evil, evil Michael Jackson.

On the other hand, unless this is just an urban legend, Paul does own the rights to "White Christmas," so he really should stop whining.

Got spare money?

This is the group that could write 'All you need is Love' at the same time as whinging about their tax bill in 'Taxman'. Great riff, crappy sentiment...

Actually it was George who made Taxman and John who made "All you need is love", so it is not like it was the same person.

And i understand that Paul wants his name first on the songs he created, cause all the people i talk to believes that John made them all, while Paul really made songs like Yesterday, Let it be, Hey Jude, All my loving, And i love her, Michelle, Sgt. Peppers, Penny Lane and many other of their greatest hits. For me Paul has always been the greatest of the two. But i admit that John is a better poet.

I don't think it's about money, I think it's about recognition. If it's true (and Paul did most of the writing) then it seems sensible to me. If it's not true, then it should stay the same. IMO, more recognition should go to who wrote more of the song.

I don't think he cared at the time, he was more concerned with making music from what I know (not much ) I think he's more concerned now with being remembered, and as it is, I think people will remember Lennon long after they've forgotten McCartney (Imagine is better than anything the Beatles collectively wrote IMHO)

No, he was knighted for 'services to music', and IMHO, one of the few people who deserve it.

I admit it is a little suspect, but I think Lennon was better post Beatles, so I'd just give in to McCartney on those songs, he was a large part of it.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

I don't think it is that bad that he wants his name first on some of the songs he did. I mean "Yesterday" was ALL Paul. No other Beatle had any hand in it. He simply wants to be remembered as being more than John's sidekick.

Actually only a few songs were true "lennon/mccartney". I can only think of "with a little help from your friends" and "a day in the life". While the rest of the songs were either pure Mccartney og pure Lennon. The songs i mentioned earlier was all PURE McCartney songs. Pure Lennon songs include Revolution, All you need is Love and Come togheter, and quiet a few of their first hits.

During the Beatle age, there is no doubt that Paul was greater then John, but John had one thing that Paul does not have. The ability to write great lyrics. Just think of Imagine. That song could never have been writen by Paul. Paul instead writes silly lovesongs like Yesterday and Michelle. But the melody in Imagine is nothing special, while the melody in Yesterday is phenomenal. So they have different roles the two of them. Paul is the best song composer, while John is the best lyric writer.

By the way John loved Yesterday. He even sings about it in the song "How do you sleep" (on Imagine). This is a kind of "i hate you Paul" song and he sings: "all you did was Yesterday". John always wished that he had made that song.

More songs written by both of them are "She Loves You" and "I Want To Hold Your Hand". And there are more, just can't remember right now.

Anyway, it were the Lennon songs that had the greater impact at the time ("Within You, Without You", "And Your Bird Can Sing", Whoaah). I remember hearing them for the first time way back then and I never heard anything like that before (nor after).

imran, you need to stop using absolutes...

I dont think they are the greatest band ever because something like this is a subjective opinion. I think they were good at writing popular music(excluding ringo), but they werent phenominal musicians, and they dont really move me.

Sure they were very influential but we have had an arguement about this before and you were arguing the other side of the coin in it.

I just really hate when people think the last good band were the beatles.

Within you without you is a Harrison song.

And i wouldŽnt say Lennon made the with the most inpact on time. Just look upon "sgt peppers lonely hearts club band", which is the record with most impact ever:
Sgt Peppers lonely hearts club band (Paul)
With a little help from you friends (John/Paul)
Lucy in the sky with diamonds (John)
Getting better (Paul)
Fixing a hole (Paul)
Shes leaving Home (Paul)
Being for the benefit of mister kite (John)
Within you without you (George)
When im 64 (Paul)
Lovely Rita (Paul)
Good morning (John)
Sgt. Peppers lonely hearts club band Reprise (Paul)
A day in the life (John/Paul)

I would say this speaks for itself.
