I've yet to see the result of my first issue, it was "Should democracy be compulsory"
Being the dictator that i am , i off course chose the least democratic decision.
quote: "This raises an interesting issue," says George W. Trax, your brother. "And that is: why do we need elections, anyway? Seems to me it would be much simpler if you just decided what was right, and did it. Wouldn't that save everyone a lot of time?"
|
other options were
quote: "Compulsory voting makes about as much as sense as having the death penalty for attempted suicide," says civil rights activist Dave Hanover. "You can't force people to be free! You can only give them the choice. Besides, if all those derelicts who can't be bothered to get off their ass once every few years voted, who would they elect? I shudder to think."
| andquote:
"It's not contradictory at all," argues political commentator Charles Hanover. "The fact is, if not everyone votes, the outcome isn't truly representative. Some groups--like elderly gun nuts--vote more often than others. That's why always we always end up with such terrible politicians." |
This shouldn't change my political freedom meter to much, since it's already at "Outlawed".
I'm still pondering though what to do with the civil rights, should i let it go up, or down....i'm thinking down with them, unless it's a strain on the economy, which is "Struggling" now

budget issue with 4 option on what to fund: education, police and military, something about the socially marginalized, and a some nut wanting a tax cut
i chose the police and military option and legislation is currently pending |
as a result, my taxes increased from 8% to 9% and political freedom dropped to outlawed
i'm undecided on my second issue regarding the national animal, polar bears.
"The fact is, the polar bear population is out of control," says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson George W. King. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have polar bear kebabs, polar bear pies, polar bear-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."
"I agree that something needs to be done about polar bear over-population," says random passer-by Buy Winters, "but eating them? That's kind of gross. Let's just shoot the ones we have to and shovel their bodies into ditches like normal."
"I am shocked and appalled!" declared SPCA President Peggy Hanover. "If anyone needs to be culled, it's us humans. The polar bears were here first, remember? We need to take this as a sign to get our industry--agriculture in particular--to back off. The polar bear is part of what makes Eternal Cold a great nation!"
i'll either go with the first option (what does polar bear taste like? ) or dismiss the issue
