Furthermore, as a Left-leaning College State, Admaria has a high demand for books, your country's specialty. Would you be willing to sign an agreement eliminating tariffs on those two goods between our nations? Admaria awaits your reply. |
unfortunately, I have just recently promised to protect my small automobile industry because no one came forward willing to trade in autos. However, Zoran recognizes a fellow liberal state when it sees one and would be delighted to supply you with books at a highly reasonable rate.

I fear for the region, I established this thread to promote trade among nations, and it has turned into an arms bazaar and a place to make military alliances. The only alliance we will ever need is that of the entire region together! Let us not work against each other, we should work with each other! |
We are working together. However, we are all individual states. This is not a demo game, since anybody can make and withdraw their nation from any alliance, project etc, and this is all RP. I agree, the whole region should be an alliance, but there are many differing views, as such, I believe we need a take it or leave it way of doing alliances. In that, if you want to, you can join/form an alliance, but if you do not want to, you have nothing forced upon you. We are trying to work with each other, however compromise is sometimes needed, which is why we have a court, to mediate and try to come to a good compromise when it comes to disagreements.
But blah, I'll shut up now, this is far too serious for the new year

The Democratic States of Admaria would like to join your free trade agreement. We are a small but economically powerful nation with strong Automobile Manufacturing, Book Publishing, and Gambling industries.
If you are still accepting new contributors, we would also like to lend our strength to the Cure for Cancer project and the Pacifist Alliance. The Cure for Cancer, if it were achieved, would be an important breakthrough for human survival and well-being. The Pacifist Alliance, through holding to a position of not attacking first, may be the best way to effectively prevent war.
While Admaria has low tax rates and thus does not possess great amounts of government funds, we would be glad to invest what funds we do have toward this historic effort. Through the free trade agreement, our corporations may also become involved.
If you are willing to accept our participation in this great venture, we will be honored.

By what measure does 20 Billion Ruble Soviets translate into 70 Billion Akiria Roses? As our economists will tell you, the measure (especially convoluted UN measure) of the economy does not dictate currency exchange (OOC: Japanese Yen for example, even at the height of the boom, were very cheap compared to the Dollar or the Pound, and the GBP is worth more than the USD, even though the US is a much, richer and more powerful bigger nation, economically).
Akiria is an enormous country, with massive buying power, yet we do not have 70 Billion Roses in circulation. We realised that we only needed the liquidity of 10 Billion, and therefore consolidated our currency into that amount, which is all backed by Gold Coins. To cut a long story short, 70 Billion Akiria Roses is worth enough Gold to buy much of Apolyton region. At domestic prices, 70 Billion Roses would buy every Akiria company in existence, or to the government, would be the budget for all our public services (some of the best in the world) for the next 100 years. In our experience, scientific ventures cost at the absolute most 100 Million Roses, which will provide for a team of 10000 research scientists, all with top of the range computing/research equipment, for 10 years.

Ah yes, I read that thread, and disregarded it. Akiria has not agreed to those terms of exchange, as it's currency is kept tied to the Gold Coin by the governments foreign currency reserves. This means we have a flat exchange rate to gold, the most common currency converter on the planet. If you wish to trade with us, it shall be at the exchange rate we have floated at. Any other exchange rate would not go through the currency market, and as such would be seen as a 'backhand deal'. We would like to avoid this.
Due to our currency consolidation (and so we don't go haywire and start going like the Lira or Russian Ruble), one Akiria Rose is valued at 5 Gold Coins (it was valued at 0.5, but it was a 10 for 1 consolidation). This is non-negociable, as it is a fixed exchange rate, so if you feel like George $oros (that you can sell enough to force our rate down) then just try it

If the nation of Akira will not agree to the regional exchange rate, then perhaps it should not be the regional delegate to the UN. How can you represent us if you don't do as we do?

Why does my trade, or currency exchange, have any bearing on my ability to represent you as Delegate, and vote as you would wish? I can represent you without trading at all, as some have banned Capitalism. Moreover, most countries outside Apolyton do not use that exchange rate model, so we would be stifling our exports considerably if we were to use it. I have a trade agreement with the ISS, and that is in Gold Coins, as are many other defense contracts I have. It would wreck my economy to suddenly pull out of those contracts. I prefer the stability of Gold, since my exchange rate under that system would fluctuate dramatically. And as mentioned above, the Sovietskii Soyuz believe that they have 10 Billion Ruble-Soviets, for a scientific venture, which under your system, would be enough money in Akiria Roses to buy Akiria. Quite simply, that amount of money does not exist in Akiria. It is the equivalent, on Earth, of having Russia able to buy China.
If we start to use that system, we will be creating our own market, that cannot trade with the outside world. The world uses a floating currency market, rather than one which depends upon your economic state.

The Dominion of Nobodz would like to join both the Free Trade agreement and the Pacifist Alliance and contribute to the Cure for Cancer project.
The top 3 industries in our small nation are the Furniture Restoration, Arms Manufactoring and Gambling industries.
We hope that joining these 3 ventures will help promote peace and stability throughout the Apolyton region. And in case these do not, we have also apply for membership in the Organisation for Defense of Sovereign Nations.

Eternal Cold is interested in an Orbital Defense Matrix and perhaps some EMP-112s as well. We have ample supplies of soda available for trade
