This is a great product and it's good to see that it is becoming successful, even before a wide release. This is sort of the anti-dot.bomb (i.e., an idea without sales).

This guy (who developed the scooter) claimed it would change the world as we know it. Claimed it would change how cities are desinged.

If it catches on, it will change the way urban cities are designed. It puts about 3x the area within "walking" distance. This would increase the property value of much of the city by at least 20%.

Note that this probably won't make any difference in much of the US, since you can probably count on one hand the number of urban cities.

I see it as a toy.

I don't see it making changes really anywhere.

Who's going to use it when it snows, rains, you have a load to carry, another person to go with... on and on. It's not even as good as a bike. And when the battery dies...

It will have its place, maybe. It's not that much more work to walk (and maybe even less work when you take into account maintance). Perhaps in a warehouse setting... something like that.

That's great. But do we really want these things clogging up sidewalks and interfering with people who actually walk? I 've heard a lot of cities will consider these no different than any other motorizied trans.

I dont see the use of this unless your semi-disabled.

Personally, I would buy one, because it would put Northern Virginia within walking distance without breaking a sweat. I don't have a car, some of the good areas aren't serviced by Metro, and cabbing it would cost $10-12 each way.

my job and my university are 15 minutes away on foot. a big number of places i go around the city are 10-15 minutes max on car. i'd change crowded buses, cars that i dont have anywhere to park, and costly taxis with this thing....

then again i dont live in new york(nor athens(unless i could go onboard the metro with a seqway ))

But i can still use my scooter - it has rain tires on it. I guess they are difficult to tip over, I've heard? hope so... because you're getting wet when i roll by in my big fat gas sucking USA SUV!

Ok. So now they're competing with large vehicles hurtling down the street . I don't think that sounds too safe with me. Especially the way people around here drive.
