	CtP Democracy Game Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

IIRC, this question was posed around 3 months ago, and most people either didn't mind, or didn't even know what a Democracy Game was.

For those who aren't too sure here is a breif summary of a Democracy Game:

Basically, you are all in charge of 1 civilisation. You work like a real nation (e.g. you have a constitution, have referedums, elections etc.). Befre the game you elect judges (so we don't have fascist dictators taking over the game) and you elect ministers (who aid the president in the game with defence, internal affairs etc.) The president is also elected, and he plays the turn, saves it, and asks the ministers what to do next, who in turn ask the people. and so on and so forth.

We are the only multi-player community on Apolyton without a Democracy Game. IIRC, it only took 10 people to start the Alpha Centauri DG.

Also, please bear in mind that other, non-CtP players can join in polls and the actual game (like I am doing in the CtP2 Democracy Game)


So, are you interested in making a CtP Democracy Game? We are the only multiplayer community on Apolyton without one. Civ2 and 3 both have two democracy games. CtP2 and SMAC have one. Let's add CtP to that list

If you are reffering to the game, it is all good to be fascist if the members want it

However you simply cannot be voted president and then ban elections, a la Hitler, Pinochet, etc.

I vote yes. I am having a hard enough time trying to get 2 turns a week. Maybe this will livin things up a bit. Besides, maybe its time CTP hop on the Democracy Banwagon instead of trying to be some Facsist pig

Nimrod, I spend about half of my Apolyton time at the CtP2 Democracy game, because it's pretty fun The others go to Stories and Diplomacy, the Off Topic, Apolyton/Community and, of course, here, if your interested

Nimrod -- You should play in the PBEM Challenges. I am playing three matches now, and I get about 3 turns a DAY! It is very lively. Maybe we can turn you into a good old fashioned Fascist Pig Dog yet! [Sorry for the spam, I just had to comment on the "fascist pig" remark... ... good luck with the democratic game!]

I get 7 turns in my 5 challengegames nearly every day (2 games are dualgames) - plus what comes up from the other games making a total of 10-15 turns every day!

So Nimrod: There is a lot of "work" to be done out-there .

Im in I was the one who asked earlyer for one. Im in the civ 2 dg game the new appoltion and just got voted war minister. Its fun guys and a good way to pick up tips as well maybe thats why the Facists dont want one

Geoffrey, FASCIST is spelled with an S. I am a FASCIST PIG DOG. Let's get it straight! Not in reality, I hope you know , I just think that Fascism is the best government in CTP with which to conquer... I mean liberate the oppressed masses! So I use that goverment type often when I play.

Actually, I wouldn't mind playing in the democratic game if you all think it would be helpful and fun.

From what I read the CtP2 people are not extremely interested, they would just enjoy posting in the forum - I don't think you'll get any of them running for official government positions. Also, some of them may already have voted here so presuming 10 people are interested is speculation. Most DGs have at least 8 official government positions, you have at most 6 people interested in fullfilling positions. I give you very little chance of getting this off the ground properly. I don't want to diss your idea or anything, but I'd REALLY hate to see this being tried and fail (if only because it makes you and the rest of the community look bad)...

Well, I will participate if there is a spot open. I like the idea by Maquiladora of having two small democracies competing against each other, because it is very easy to get a victory against the a/i player(s), even at deity level. I feel the debates are more lively (and more real) when there is a real threat facing you, i.e. human! Just my two cents worth...
