I really love that avatar.

The peaceloving Egyptians and Iroquois actually offered, and still offer, the deal in the next paragraph. By way of explanation, when the game started, we were aware of the possibility that the two remaining civs could form an alliance and it looked like we were located far enough apart to make an early war between us tactically difficult and strategically useless. So, we cooperated instead. After seeing the map, we would rather undo the pact and play reasonably straight.

Alex wrote, "After thinking about it for the past few turns, we decided that our planned approach would spoil the enjoyment of the game, so we are telling you everything. What are your thoughts? Should we continue, somehow making sure everyone plays without alliances? Should we stop? Should we continue as if nothing happened?"

If it's not too late, give peace a chance??

I accepted your offer, jshelr. It was stupid to declare war on a civ, of which I don't even know, where it's located. Egypt didn't offer me anything. And after this turn, I doubt, that it will.

I'm terribly sorry how things developed. I didn't want war at all, at the countrary, I was preparing a non-aggression and research agreement with you. But your mail alarmed me. I thought a while, what I shall answer. But every answer I could give was either dangerous for me ("just continue...") or would sound like whining ("please stop... no alliances..."). None of them is acceptable for me. So I decided to answer you in the game.

I wish I could forget all I've read in the past few posts, but for the fact that we explicitly stated that there would be no meta-game diplomacy, until such times as it would be reasonable to do so in-game. Have you been breaking such rules, and if so, can I do so as well?

Until this morning, everything was going according to our set of rules, as far as I can tell. And even then, the rules were broken in this thread (not in private e-mails) so I think it's still OK, especially since the main beneficiary of this extra information (Dominae) doesn't have in-game contact with anyone yet.
