ideally, major nations should not be pushing smaller countries around but it's bound to happen... and it's far better that the US is involving itself in the affairs of foreign nations than having China or some other country do the same...
why? because the US is a superior country. aside from the higher standard of living of americans compared to the Chinese, for example, the US is also on a higher level of nation as the US is an idealogical nation. China (as well as nearly every country in the world) is an ethnic state... a Chinese empire would undoubtedly oppress the non-Chinese and base their entire nation on racialism. The US has great ethnic diversity and, because of this, is a more socially advanced country.
better the US than the Chinese or the Russians or whoever else...
thanks

To be fair though, the Chinese aren't trying to force their culture on people, they're about as isolationist as they come.
But I agree with you in a way. If intervention of any kind by Western nations leads to improved human rights/living conditions for the people of that area we should definitely consider it.

Arrian:
The United States is, without a doubt, the most socially advanced society in the world...
pre-civilized tribes were family oriented... you lived for your clan... as civilization developed, the emphasis switched to racial groups... nations were made up of racial groups (ie- germany made of germans... france made of french... china of chinese...)... the United States is one of the few nations to reach the next level, being an ethnically diverse, idealogical nation...
we are superior in terms of the progress of civilization...

how in god's name is the US not the most socially advanced nation in the world... Germany is a racial nation... Sweden is a racial nation... in terms of the progress of civilization, those are inferior forms of statehood. a multi-national idealogical nation (ie- to an extent the Roman Empire and the various Islamic Caliphates in the past... and now, much more pronounced, the US) is superior...
thanks

_none of the countries in europe are a "racial" nation. all have large immigration populations to a lesser or wider respect integrated.
_there is no way something can be classified as "superior" to something else since "superior" is judged by different critria by each one.

I thought it was a satire, but seems not after seeing the replies... so here's my 2 cents.
America beeing superior: in what?
Here is in what it has serious problems proposing it is not:
- Average capacity to buy went down so much that the double revenues may not suffice (two parents working)
- USA is the country with the most people in prison
- USA has some problems of many sorts and a president that made his cash from post-1991 Iraq (thx to father) that wasn't elected by majority of population's voices
- USA's politicians seriously want Iraq for its oil and it's not humanitarian
Exemple: Your politicians (not the population, who's not daily informed about such things...) placed Saddam to power because he gave advantages on oil, then they went against when he went against them ; and it wasn't humanitarian since USA knew he was using chemical stuff and all on Iran and Iraqi civilians, with their support.
The problem is simple and it's not the Americans. It's that the people who control USA are the WORST Americans. As any country, the worst people aren't good... Instead, they support oil lobby and other important corporations.

erm, you sdound like a nazi.
Also, what is so important about race? Just because eveyone in Sweden is swedish, i guess they are an inferior country.
I mean, look how stupid the average american is (no offense ment to americans, but it is true in many cases, and its not US specific, britain is started to build up quite an amazingly brain dead middle class right now).
What gives the USA such supremacy over everyone else? just because it has lots of different races means nothing, Britain is full of 'races' : Scots, Welsh, English, Pakistani, Indian, Jewish, Irish, and has had a history full of imigration from the Celts and romans, to the vikings and saxons. So I guess, considering Britain has have 2000 years of this to the USA's 400, I guess that Britain should rulle the world instead.

The whole race theory is bunk, but then you seem to like to turn everything to race... Some of the European countries have very high percentages of recent immigrants (Luxembourg 40%, Netherlands ~20%) as well as whole populations (like the french Huguenotes) mixing earlier. Neither did we take till the 1960's to give equal rights to people of a different colour.
Any country where 50 years ago apartheid ruled can hardly make a claim to be the most civilised country in the world. And if we go by quality of living Scandinavian countries are so far ahead of you it is not funny anymore (social healthcare -check; 100% literacy - check; low crime rates - check; etc;etc)

Oh, wow. Statements like this almost make Fez look like a deep-thinking genius. But what the hell, I'll play along.
First, let me make my own nationalistic statement that Canada is probably the most socially advanced country on the planet - and the UN would agree (ok, we slipped to number 2 last year ) The US is simply the most productive country in the world, which does not equal socially advanced.
Second, if you want to consider why the US is as powerful as it is, the answer is simple - it is a massive country, blessed with more natural resources than any other (ok, maybe Russia is comparable) and has never had a proximate competitor or threat of attack. It has nothing to do with an inherent "greatness" of the American people, especially since the American people over the years have been largely from other countries anyway.
Third, .... why bother. The arguement is just so asinine.
