I've always liked the Waldstein.

If you mean just piano sonatas, Pathetique, Moonlight, and Waldstein are the three must-have warhorses.

The late piano sonatas are among my favorites, but are quite audacious (like all late Beethoven) and should be entered into carefully.

Tired of ads?

A few years back, there was a 6 CD collection of all 33 of Beethoven's piano sonatas by Wilhelm Kempff.

Very nice to see the entire range presented by one performer, so that you could really focus on the range of Beethoven's compositions.

No you didn't, GP.

MtG--speaking of complete piano collections, there is a fantastic set on CD of Julius Katchen doing the complete solo piano works of Brahms. Probably the overall best interpretations of those works I've heard.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

all this is so easy round here

the newspapers made offers and a friend of mine got the entire works of betoven bach and some others completely free (with the correct amount of coupons) and i'll start copying them with my cd burner very soon.

they are from the philarmonic orchestra of berlin or something. i hope they're good and not some cheap shots.

i once got a tape with vivaldi's 4 seasons dirt cheap and the execution was crap.
