We have been having some trouble with difficulty level in the other game. It seems that it likes to switch to Regent when you load the game from the MP screen. Until we figure out what's going on, I think the best way is to start a new PTW and load the game from the main menu. Make sure it's a fresh PTW session though. When you do that the game tells you the difficulty.

When you say to "load" from the main menu, do you mean a "normal" Load Game, like playing a SP sav?

Yes, just make sure you do it from a fresh PTW session (definitely not from within another game in progress). It seems to work for us. We're still on Emperor without any problems.

YES! First turn, first problem... I even could not access the save. But I know that the problem is on my CPU, I'll have to reinstall Civ3. The problem, it's that one of my friends has my CD, and I won't see him until monday. So the first turn(s) will be without me.

I'll PM jshelr or Alexman, to see if they can build my city and start a warrior while I get my CPU up and running...

Ok I managed to get around my problem... I was missing some audio files so I created them and I could play my turn normally.

I might have screwed up the difficulty on that first save I sent you guys. Was it Regent instead of Monarch? I have a new save (with BRC as a first player because I thought Kon was going to be away) at Monarch.

Hey guys. I have received the save, and it says we're playing regent. Since the number of happy people are the same for both Monarch and Regent, I say no big deal. Barbarians will be the only difference, right. Or am I missing something?

The save (regent) will be sent to Dave in 10 minutes.

In MP, the number of beakers needed for research is the biggest difference between Regent and Monarch.

A good start is nice, but it's a good finish that really matters!

BTW, I didn't manually touch that version of the map at all. I just generated random maps and starting locations until I got one I liked.

In the second (Monarch) game I sent BRC, I actually gave him a little bonus.

We can keep playing. I really don't mind. This is my first PBEM game, and I would just like to have fun. I don't have a problem losing, as long as it is fairly. That's why I'm playing with you guys. Good old Strat Forum.

P.S. If you get around to me again today before 9:00 P.M. CST, send the Save to jshelr or Dominae. I got to work.

I haven't paid an extra attention to what difficulty it was when I recieved the save, but I tought it was regent. (just to get some pressure off BRC's shoulders!)

I don't mind playing regent, I just want to have fun!

I got a nice starting position, but I think the black fog hides a nasty surprise...
