	Strat forum PBEM 2 Tired of ads?

This is the thread for the second game of the strategy forum PBEM, featuring:

- Konquest: Babylonians
- BRC: Ottomans
- DaveMcW: Greeks
- Ducki: Egyptians

The world is:
Size: Small
Type: Archipelago, 70% water
Climat: Default
Difficulty: Monarch
Barbs: Roaming

Ok, here's mine.
-Diff - Monarch (I'm still new here, so still having happiness problems, Emperor might kill me due to unproductive/rioting turns)
-Civs - Japan or Egypt, regardless of map

I would tend to shy away from Tiny, but maybe we can try Tiny and if it's too fast, do another game afterwards with our Alternate Civs.

AIs - I don't really care one way or the other. Does no AIs affect tech trading with a PBEM game?

Barbs - nothing too extreme.

I will play as Greek if we go archipelago.

Do difficulty levels work in PBEM yet? Monarch is fine if they do but we may be stuck on Regent.

I vote for small map, any barb level is fine.

Don't have AIs, they are so easy to exploit that it's unfair to everyone who doesn't have them as a neighbor.

Monarch sounds good. I'll play the Ottomans I guess. Everything looks good. The order that we go doesn't really matter. Hopefully, with archipelago, this game will last long enough to where it won't matter. Small map, fine with me.

BTW Dave, nice game you had at CFC.

If you guys want to play with the mod, do you need Alexman to give you a game start? Otherwise, I believe you have waited a decent interval and should start with 4 if you have to.

Let's assume he will help with the start. You need to send him an order of play and that is a crucial decision for the smoothness your game will exhibit. Chatter among yourselves and determine which order would work best.

Although it's not really necessary because the person setting up the game doesn't need to know the map, I'd be glad to send you guys the start.

If you like, I can make sure nobody gets stuck with a terrible start.

I think even a terrible start can be good...see Rome in my AU203 - he's up to 3 or 4 cities now and he got the Colossus. Not a world power by any stretch, but he's still around heading into industrialization.

Sure, alexman.

And while I wouldn't have played out Rome's start on a Random game, if that's what I got in either an AU or this PBEM, I'd at least play long enough to suicide on my nearest neighbor.

Thanks for setting it up, I guess we need to decide play order.

I can usually play a little from about 6am-10am CST (US) and sometimes a bit from 9pm-12midnight CST.

Sure, 4 people with alexman as mod sounds good.

My best time is 6pm-11pm CST.

Warning: I'm going to be away Sunday-Wednesday so I might ask the mod to hit spacebar for my early turns.

Once school starts, in about a week or two, I will probably have my best chances in the evening (5-10 cst), so I could send it to Ducki when I was done, and he could play his turn anytime between then and the next morning. How does this fit in with your guys' schedules??

Also, I think it would be great if Alexman set it up for us, with fairly equal starts.

Sunday - Wednesday is only 4 turns.
Why not have the mod plant your city and start a warrior? Or if we start before Sunday, you could set up a production queue, at least - that works in PBEM, yes?

I did see your CFC score, so I doubt 4 turns would kill you, but no reason to completely waste them.

You should probably send your preferred order to him along with map settings, etc. Go for it guys.

Offer still stands, if you want a neutral party to play turns for someone temporarily away, I'll do it. I'll also look at the start and let everyone know if someone gets totally screwed. Given all the time required to see this to a conclusion, you want everyone to have a reasonable chance.

If I have a 2-3 hour block, that should be enough time. I have evening sports a couple of times a week at school, but they only last 1 hour. I can let Dave choose whether he wants to go before me, or after. I might even be able to push back my start time to 4:00 p.m. CST.

Here's my proposed turn order:

1. Konquest: 5-9 CST evenings
2. BRC: 5-10 CST evenings
3. DaveMcW: 6-11 CST evenings
4. Ducki: 9-12 CST evenings

Since we are all on at about the same time we could even set up some fast-play rounds if we wanted to.

Map:
Small, Archipelago, 70% water
Default climate settings?
Monarch
No AI players
Roaming barbs

Civs:
Konquest: Babylonians
BRC: Ottomans
DaveMcW: Greeks
Ducki: Egyptians

(Edit: ducki gets Egypt and Konquest gets Babs)

That sounds good, except that I'll play the Babs (still not familiar enough with the vikings.)
My plaing time depends on my school schedule, but I like as it is now.
A moderator would be great, and I don't care who it is.

Ok. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't be able to do that, but my life won't end if it doesn't happen, no matter what the reason. I want us to have fun with this game, and not worry about it. I know that Konquest and I have school, and you have a kid. Nobody should have to wait around for the SAVE when they have important things to do. That said, when are we planning on starting this. We will also need E-mail addresses.
