I can't agree. When systematic abuse and torture of children becomes a profitable industry, those buying the products are just helping propagate evil.

There are many groups out there that monitor internet child pornography. How is it that they can acquire their "research" materials legally, whereas Townshend, who appears to be an outspoken critic of child exploitation, cannot acquire said "research" materials?

Shi, while letting Bubba have a go at him in the prison shower is certainly a good idea, I think the death penalty is better than what child molesters deserve. Very timely thread Laz. I saw a program on 48 hours this week that was to the subject. I was totally amazed at the level on stupidity the parents of these children exhibited and even the fact that some of these mothers saw a way for their girls to "progress their modeling carreres" by doing this. Ok.....question how many of the top modeling agencies like Whilemina, Ford, Vogue etc.......really reqruit their models from the porn sites on the internet. GET REAL!!

These mothers were either nieve or out right stupid (I choose the later) in their beliefs that the fact that their 12 and 13 year old daughters were posing but not posing ludely or pornographicly while taking these pictures. Can you imagine the shocked look on the faces of these mothers when the photohgraphs of their "little girls" in nothing but langire was brought out. One of the mothers even had the neve to say she didn't see anything pornographic about it since her daughter wasn't nude

Newwflash woman!! It doesn't take much for a person who is disposed to already have pornographic thoughts about children to set them off! How stupid do you have to be. In my opinion that mother should have a daughter taken away from her or at the very least be investigated by Child Protective Services cause in my book and I do have three teenage daughters........in my book that mom wasn't looking out for the best interest of her child or protecting her.......she was pimping her.

I'm a bit puzzled why most everyone so far thinks this guy should be given the harshest possible treatment. If he was really doing research for his autobiography, as he claims, that may be a legitimate reason to possess such materials under UK law. Granted, paying for access to a child porn site was a rather stupid way of going about it, but that doesn't mean his life should be destroyed. This guy isn't a David Westerfield here. He's also married and has children, and thinks he may have been sexually molested himself as a child. If anything, he's just another moronic celebrity. I don't think that stupidity is sufficient reason to send someone to prison to get raped by Bubba the Luvva.

EDIT: After all, look at what Michael Jackson did. Celebrities aren't known for their mastery of this thing called common sense.

Not because he's a celebrity, no. But there is such a thing as an honest mistake. My view is: once, with a semi-plausible reason and he admits to the mistake, no crime. In today's society, pedophile is the absolute worst thing a person can be labeled as (right next to bigot).
