This issue was used in a West Wing scene, where Sam has to discuss the issue with politicans & military personnel. They claim that it would be bad because it would ruin unit discipline and cause problems for the armed forces.

The head of the joint chiefs, who is black, comes in and they ask his opinion, he replies ( something like this )

"About 50 years ago, they didn't want to allow blacks into the military because they feared it would ruin unit discipline and ruin the US' military. Well they were wrong, black soldiers worked with white soldiers and they did well. They proved them wrong and we have a mixed army now."

Okay, I know it's just a ( damn good ) drama ( and I've prolly quoted it wrong ) but it raises an interesting point. If the arguments of creating a mixed colour armed forces 50 years ago are the same as creating a mixed sexuality forces now and they proved those arguments wrong then surely you can't use those arguments for preventing a mixed armed forces.

If colour is not a problem and being a different sex is not a problem then why should having a different sexual orientation?

If you're a good soldier/sailor/flyer/etc.. then who cares whether you're white/black/man/woman/gay/heterosexual?

Hardly. Trolls post with the intention of stirring trouble.

Intrinsically, the only thing wrong with homosexuality is similar to lust, at least how Boris and I defined homosexuality during our discussion. This is different from my original position, as I had an inaccurate assessment of homosexuality. Trolls also do not change their positions in response to criticism and analysis.

I still will not encourage them to live a gay lifestyle, and I will show them what I was taught. Don't get me wrong, there are some people very comfortable with the lifestyle, and they are some who have major problems. I have seen both.
