I copied the files you sent me to the appropriate directories and loaded my first PBEM(Earth). When loading I got some error message with something about graphics...

I copied the backed up file back to the PTW directory, and the game loaded smoothly.

So the file change is not working.

Thats strange it works fine for me and Jshelr. I wonder if you're already using a modified PediaIcon.txt file. Are there any mod units in that game? Thats essentially the change we have with our game, ie we have an extra unit called a Drigate for which we needed a text identifier in the PediaIcons.

I suggest that you just switch out and back the PediaIcons.txt files for now. Then when you have time, do the manual cut and paste changes to the PediaIcon files that work with the earth map. You could also send me the two files that work for you so I can look at whether there are changes.

The Earth game has custom rules... Less corruption, Wheel is needed for roads, but nothing that affects units and graphics.

I'll try to play the turn now.

Just for the record, I got the same error message when loading the Naval PBEM, so it's not limited to Earth.

And to make things even more fun, the game crashes when loading our latest save even with the changed text file.

You know that there are two PediaIcon.txt files to be replaced? The one you posted is from the PtW Text directory.

I compared those files and your's is the same as ours was (ie default). As long as you put the two files in the correct directories it should work.

Jshelr cut and pasted the changes to the two files and they worked. Try that, it'll only take 2 minutes. It may be some weird glitch with the text files.

Yes. As you specified, one file went to the Civ3/Text directory and the other to Civ3/Civ3PTW/Text directory.

I'll try to make the changes manually a bit later.

SP games loaded correctly, the Earth PBEM loaded correctly, but our game still crashed.

I knew the changes themselves couldnt be the problem, I've made too many mods to too many versions (but ya never know). Didnt you have email probs at one point? Maybe your email (or mine) has corrupted the files. I'll post the sav here.
