Actually, the number of 'non-official' occasions people have used my full nickname without abbreviations or misspellings has just about been doubled by this thread

I think Stefu is right. In my experience with chats, I've never seen someone's which wasn't shortened to less than 6 letters, except if it is below (mine is obviously "Spiff", which is good, since I want to be called Spiff )
