Which do you guys think is dumber?
Phonebooth or The Core
If you don't know about phonebooth is about a man stuck in a phonebooth and if he leaves he will be shot by a sniper.

So my wife and I finally went to see TTT this weekend (don't laugh, we have a baby) and the usual audience hubbub was going on pre-movie. When the trailers came on, people pretty much shut up and when the movie came on, everybody shut up.
Which was good. Except for the fact that I didn't shut up...
There were 4-6 trailers for various films. One of the trailers was (pretty lame for a trailer, imo) for the film "Dumb and Dumberer." OK, it's going to be quick knock-off w/o the original stars in it, no big deal.
Then the trailer after that was for this laugher called "The Core." My wife and I couldn't believe our eyes - this movie looks so dumb, it might make "Armageddon" look like... well, "Deep Impact" ("Armageddon" was pretty bad, so I couldn't exactly say "Citizen Kane".)
Anyway, my faux pas was this: when the trailer for "The Core" ended, during the two seconds that they show the credits, I said, IN A REALLY LOUD VOICE:
"Now that was Dumb and Dumberer!"
The entire audience broke up. My wife had to leave for a minute or two, she was laughing so hard. Everybody calmed down by the time the movie started, so all was good (luckily, there were a few trailers after that).
Was I wrong in doing that?

Damn, I wish I was that quick.
So long as the majority of the people had a god laugh, no harm done in my eyes. That's a good one.

I really odn't see why LoTR has taken off. It's so boring and dry. The acting is bad, the storyline is bad, the movies are bad, the book was horrible......

Guys! Guys! Whottsa matta yoo? The whole LOTR trilogy only takes a weekend to read!
While yes, the premise of "The Core" seems pretty shaky, I'd like to pint out that the spinning core generate's the earth's magnetic belt, which acts like a shield against cosmic radiation. I'd also like to point out that there is evidence that the spinning core has actually reversed itself several times in the history of the earth, so who knows, maybe it can stop. estarting it would be a whole different proposition. I'd think that it would take prodigious amounts of eneergy.
Most Steven Siegal movies are pretty bad. I particularily disliked the one about terrorists hijacking a US battleship.
I thought that "Signs" was awful. I guess that Shymalan was going for a "Blair Witch Hunt" effect, but what he got was something that seemed more like a 1950s "B" movie with actors who didn't seem to understand their lines and couldn't figure out how to deliver them. I partcularily thought the part about how the rescue squad waited to extract Mel Gibson's character's wife from the tree because she was cut in half and would die as soon as they did so was especially lame.

quote: Another film that made me cringe: Evolution...for f**ks sake, killing aliens with anti-dandruff shampoo and the most ridiculous product placement ever...I don't care if it was supposed to be ironic - it was just plain crap! |
How come the main character decides on the element in the anti-dandruff shampoo as the one that will kill the aliens? He's like..."Hmm The aliens are Nitrogen based organisms...well, humans are carbon based so if we go down the periodic table twice and then right we come to Arsenic which kills us. So if we go down twice and to the right we come to Selenium so that must kill the monsters!"
What the heck??? Every element on the periodic table could potentially kill a human in the right dosage. Neon, Radium hell even Selenium. In fact things like Mercury could probably even kill humans in a lower dosage than Arsenic. Seems like a pretty big gamble to take.
