Which do you guys think is dumber?

Phonebooth or The Core

If you don't know about phonebooth is about a man stuck in a phonebooth and if he leaves he will be shot by a sniper.

I'm kinda interested in Phonebooth, it could be interesting, or as bad as star wars episode 2.

You know, one of those movies that you can't keep watching, they just make you want to kick the director in the testicles then stick your finger in your eye, back up into your brain and swirl it around.

Has anyone mentioned how the core stopped spinning?

Earthquake machines! Secret military program goes horribly wrong!!!

XXX is really bad.

Battlefield Earth is the worst high budget movie ever. XXX has nothing on this movie. Want a rat man animal? I love it at the end when the dome is crashing, huge pieces are falling all around, and the people are just calmly walking around. And this movie has shown us that people with cave man quality technology and knowlege can learn to fly harrier jets in a matter of hours with no problem.

Another honorable mention for worst movie ever is Soul Survivor. This one stars Casey Aflec and Eliza Dushku among others and I swear I lost several IQ points and a couple years of my life for being subjected to that ****. DO NOT EVER WATCH THIS MOVIE. It's so bad that it's painful. It's not funny bad like Battlefield Earth, it's just bad.

...and it was CFC's that caused the Earth's core to stop spinning, see without ozone the.... I've gone cross eyed.

What's the point in Phonebooth? Why can't the sniper shoot him inside the booth? What does the guy do? Just waits and thinks his next move? What happens?

BustaMike, haha, I've seen Soul Survivors. The only reason I watched it was because it had Eliza Dushku in it, and she's pretty much a hottie. Anyway I want that 90 minutes of my life back. That movie sucked!

Well most castles had sortie gates, which were like very secure turnstiles. They were used (as in the movie) to let men out for sorties against enemy besiegers without risking having to open the main gate.

So my wife and I finally went to see TTT this weekend (don't laugh, we have a baby) and the usual audience hubbub was going on pre-movie. When the trailers came on, people pretty much shut up and when the movie came on, everybody shut up.

Which was good. Except for the fact that I didn't shut up...

There were 4-6 trailers for various films. One of the trailers was (pretty lame for a trailer, imo) for the film "Dumb and Dumberer." OK, it's going to be quick knock-off w/o the original stars in it, no big deal.

Then the trailer after that was for this laugher called "The Core." My wife and I couldn't believe our eyes - this movie looks so dumb, it might make "Armageddon" look like... well, "Deep Impact" ("Armageddon" was pretty bad, so I couldn't exactly say "Citizen Kane".)

Anyway, my faux pas was this: when the trailer for "The Core" ended, during the two seconds that they show the credits, I said, IN A REALLY LOUD VOICE:

"Now that was Dumb and Dumberer!"

The entire audience broke up. My wife had to leave for a minute or two, she was laughing so hard. Everybody calmed down by the time the movie started, so all was good (luckily, there were a few trailers after that).

Was I wrong in doing that?

Damn, I wish I was that quick.

So long as the majority of the people had a god laugh, no harm done in my eyes. That's a good one.

The thing about preview is they can make even average movies look great. I admit some of the scenes from the Core looked pretty cool. But I just don't think I can watch it with that bad of writing. This is the problem I had with Armageddon. It takes more than special effect for me to watch a movie.

I admit I seen Independence Day in the movies. But I thought the movie would be a lot darker in tone. Billions of people die, yet they act like nothing happens.

I'm coming out with a shocking admission.

I haven't seen the two towers yet

I just haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. I admit fantasy films aren't my favourite. Although I do like the Conan movies. This movie is too polished. I like fantasy movies with crappy writing, crappy special effects, and crappy acting

D&D movies just don't interest me much. Yet I enjoy RPG's. I can't figure that out.

BTW has anyone seen that movie Dungeons and Dragons? My brother has seen that and said it was OK.

I saw the D&D movie and I didn't think is what that bad... at least it was entertaining.

Worst Movie(s) Ever:

Beethoven - stupid dog

A Time To Kill - and I generally like Grisham movies, but I am sorry McConnahaya lost his accent half way through the movie!

The one with Shaq as a genie

Deep Impact - duh

Anything produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Directed by Micheal Bay - I will still watch them, but man they suck

Punisher the Movie

He-man

man, I could go on and on...

Best Movie(s) Ever that still sucked: The Evil Dead trilogy, Ice Pirates, and the Mad Max movies

Worst movie in recent memory... The Transporter...ilk!

My friend was anticipatiing its release for like 2 months, adn quoted me all the great reviews it got. gah. the only reason why i didnt walk out was because my friends and I were having such a great time making fun of it. Then after the movie we went to an all-night diner down the street for a midnight snack and sat there for a couple hours more making more fun of it. That actually made seeing the movie worth it.

I am currently on my fifth attempt at reading The Lord of the Rings. In fact, LotR was the last thing I bought when I left Britain - I got a nice big fat book and decided to read it at last.

I can't make it past the first 100 pages or so. I'm a D&D fan and I consider myself to be fairly amenable to most fantasy (I read P N Elrod and Alan Dean Foster's Spellsinger novels, to name a few) but LotR is surprisingly impenetrable.

I've been told by friends that it picks up later and all the pieces fall together. But I'm afraid I've fallen victim to Dracula syndrome, where the genre that follows a piece of work eclipses it by changing audience demands thereof.

(Dracula started the vampire genre, but if you look at the best grossing vampire movies and books out there today, they are entire orders of complexity higher than Bram Stoker's creation.)

I am adamant that I will not watch the LotR films until I have read the book. This may very well mean never.

Guys! Guys! Whottsa matta yoo? The whole LOTR trilogy only takes a weekend to read!

While yes, the premise of "The Core" seems pretty shaky, I'd like to pint out that the spinning core generate's the earth's magnetic belt, which acts like a shield against cosmic radiation. I'd also like to point out that there is evidence that the spinning core has actually reversed itself several times in the history of the earth, so who knows, maybe it can stop. estarting it would be a whole different proposition. I'd think that it would take prodigious amounts of eneergy.

Most Steven Siegal movies are pretty bad. I particularily disliked the one about terrorists hijacking a US battleship.

I thought that "Signs" was awful. I guess that Shymalan was going for a "Blair Witch Hunt" effect, but what he got was something that seemed more like a 1950s "B" movie with actors who didn't seem to understand their lines and couldn't figure out how to deliver them. I partcularily thought the part about how the rescue squad waited to extract Mel Gibson's character's wife from the tree because she was cut in half and would die as soon as they did so was especially lame.

Its corrupting our children!

I would note that an earthquake machine could not possibly make a liquid core stop spinning. Further, the world wouldn't end if the core ceased to spin. It would resume spinning, even if it did somehow stop. Maybe digital technology would go on the fritz, but... argghhh, false science... sucking the intelligence from society... How come the main character decides on the element in the anti-dandruff shampoo as the one that will kill the aliens? He's like..."Hmm The aliens are Nitrogen based organisms...well, humans are carbon based so if we go down the periodic table twice and then right we come to Arsenic which kills us. So if we go down twice and to the right we come to Selenium so that must kill the monsters!"

What the heck??? Every element on the periodic table could potentially kill a human in the right dosage. Neon, Radium hell even Selenium. In fact things like Mercury could probably even kill humans in a lower dosage than Arsenic. Seems like a pretty big gamble to take.
