Yes we're gold, officially and yes I can finally confirm that.

The date we were told for gold announcement would be today and that stores would be the first part of Feb. What IG decides to do, is up to their marketing forces and such. R4eplication and distribution *can* occur in as little as a week if a print rush is put on it.

But again, at this point we're waiting to see as much as you guys...

NDAs will hold until game release, and parts of them will probably still remain after that,

not all things are common knowledge once the game ships...for example, how many builds they went through and things relating to that may still be covered by NDA. We cant really know

YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rantz, Chantz and all the team that worked on this game. Everyone. Well DONE!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought the guide today, so that should keep me busy until the game comes out. Once again, u guys should go and have a very looong break! U deserve it. As well as a pay rise to help with all the unwanted stress that has occurred due to the delay of Moo3. But anyhow, thanks. I eagerly await the arrival of the galaxy on the shelves. Lets just cross our fingers and hope a print rush is put on it. MOo3 has left da building!!!

But I agree with Alexfrog! As Rantz said it could be shelved within a week, but IG will let that last 4 weeks! I am just asking myself why they do this? Don't they think we've waited long enough?

You buy publishing space etc in advance. If they've paid for a lot of activity in the last weeks of Feb it makes more sense to use it than to pay more $ to advance the date by a couple of weeks.

Its not cynicism, its sound business practice. Publicity is just one facet of production and marketing. If you arrange for the production of 50,000 CD's over 4 weeks in February and sign a contract that gets you the best deal, why break or renegotiate that contract to pay three times as much to start earlier and produce them faster just to get a 2 week advantage? Only reason to do so would be if the beancounters could demonstrate that the faster release would generate more than enough sales to offset the whole of the added cost.

We like to act impatient, but few of us would be prepared to pay $10 more to secure a 2 week advance in the release. A lot more of the public who are not so tightly focussed on this one title would be put off by the added cost. I strongly considered not buying Simcity 4 when it hit the shelves because I noticed it was £5 more expensive than usual and the only way to combat the trend is to refuse to buy.
