If somebody wants to be dopey and smoke pot all day, I feel that they have that right. I would simply like marijuana legalized because I would use it occasionally. As with anything, moderation is the key. Too much of anything, whether it be fast food, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana... can kill you. More people die of heart disease in the US than anything else, yet I don't see red meat and fast food on the illegal list. |
perhaps to your first point... still undecided tho. Too much is unkown, for every published study i've read that says marajuana is not a major health risk, there are others that seem to contradict this. I also have reservations against using drugs to feel good. I dunno, why, exactly, I just kinda feel like its "cheating". If I wanna feel good, there are other ways i can do it.
however, your point about heart disease is kinda irrelevant, i think, as there are a million factors, including a huge genetic prediposition one.

The major problem with marijuana as I've seen is mediocrity. A few people can handle this drug and let their core personalities lead on, few more are benefited by rare perks (Felch being in the minority, I assume). Yet many more become addicted subtly - not knowing that although their daily lives are still attainable, they are slowed down physically and mentally - dramatically. The majority of potheads are simply reduced in ability, and it's sad that the green ignorance leads one to not even know that. I mean... I've seen a few friends progress into this "blissful" state over months and years - and although they are still kind people, I itch to just beat the living sh*t out of them now and again when they're acting like folk rock fan sacks of garbage.
The worst is those who convince themselves that they're gaining an insightful edge by becoming a hacky-sack philosopher, although I know none of them - I was near dragged in myself.
...and as far as I know, WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT COCAINE, F*CKHEAD. If you want to rant about what I'm doing with my own physical and mental state by snorting once a week, start another thread.

I don't know anyone who says that tobacco companies put stuff in their cigarettes to kill their users. We do know for a fact, however, that tobacco comanies do fiddle with the the nicotine content to string their customers along, keep them addicted. They do add lots of chems to the cigarettes; killing their customers is just an side effect. Obviously, the tobacco companies don't want their customers dying. You can't make money off a dead customer.
As for pot, it sure as **** does NOT help you with asthma, unless you're trying to induce an asthma attack. Smoke is bad for asthmatics, period, end of sentence. Possibly if you eat it or drink it it might help, but very few people do that.
Pot's main benefit is that it helps sick people overcome their nausea from chemo therapy, so that they can hold their food down.
BTW, just cuz benzene is an organic compound doesn't mean you can call stuff with benzene in it organic. (BTW, did you know that most mind altering drugs have a benzene ring as a key molecular component?)
