Also, the concept of Co-Ministers has come up again (not in this thread, but in chats). What do people feel about 2 people being appointed to a single post as Co-Ministers? Or rather, would it be better for one to be the Minister and the other to be the Vice-Minister? Nothing says that a Minister cannot appoint a Vice-Minister to look after a specific area or to hold the office in his/her absense. Does anything say that we cannot have Co-Ministers? |
This is a fine idea, but it would probably be best with a Minister/Vice-Minister system. We need to have one individual who ultimately makes the decision or who is ultimately responsible for getting something done.

A lot is unwritten in the Constitution. That is not necessarily bad. It allows us to be flexible. However, what we decide now would be the precedent for the future. So, what do we want? |
Flexibilty is very good. Frankly, at this early stage in the game, I don't see why we'd need a lot of ministers. Later on, however, we may want to add more as the work starts to add up.

Could you decide on your cadidacy for one or the other? That might help. |
Sure. I'd like to serve the mighty Apolyton Nation as its Minister of Defense.
I couldn't decide at first which job I could better serve the Apolytonian people in.

I also agree here. A good Minister/Vice-Minister tandem will have a lot of discussion and almost all the decisions (if not all) will be taken by consensum (mmmm is it written like this?) like it would be in a co-minister system, but with the advantages of the hierarchy.

Of course, things will no doubt change and improve as the game goes on.

As far as I remember I didn't applied for the Minister of Information position, but I would be glad to serve Apolyton in both at the same time. Specially since there will not be much to do at the Intelligence Office during the first turns. Later we can divide the positions again if needed when the size of the empire grows.

As I understand it, the Minister of Information is in charge of disseminating game-related information to the team at large; turn events, diplomatic happenings, etc. The Intelligence Beureau is simply in charge of data crunching; giving us cold, hard facts about the state of things. I think the point of keeping them separate is that the I.B. is supposed to be a non-political entity; free from any bias. |
I thought they were almost the reverse. "Information" should be cold hard facts gleaned from in-game information, like demographics, scores, etc. "Intelligence" depends on interpretation - meaning diplomacy analysis and the like.

I would like to apply to the post of Minister of the Interior. I originally declined to getting involved in the economics of Gathering Storm, and am beginning to see that's all I can really offer!
Are the ministers selected already? How many positions per portfolio?
