This is a PBEM map with 6 players on a map of Europe

Resources, goody huts and shielded grassland will be randomized.

Any choices of maps or civs?

Probably be playing with random start locations, since otherwise it would be really easy to pick a superior start location. Though that can be part of the fun. We'll see what settings we can tweak to get the most fun out of the game.

What would you say about giving the best starting positions to newbies, and worst starting positions to experienced players ?

That sounds like a good idea Flandrien.

We need to figure out which map though. What size does everyone prefer? The bigger the better for me, so I'll pretty much let everyone else decide the size since I doubt everyone would agree with my selection.

On a Europe map, the easiest start positions are usually Russia, France, Spain and maybe a country in Scandanavia. The harder ones are Britain, Germany and Italy.

I'd be OK with any of those civs. The best would be to choose them randomly, but picking a favourite is good, too.

If we play on a map moderned on the real world I would prefer the civs to start where they actually are in real life.

Perhaps we should decide to fill some holes in? Don't want to imbalance the game too much.

What civs might everyone want?

I'd enjoy playing Germany or France.

Why don't we use the Europe map that came with the PTW and determine fair start positions based on the historical locations of the civs?

Randomized resources of course.

I would be willing to play as the Celts, Ottomans, or Germans.

The Europe map that comes with PTW is a bit big, a bit sparse, and a bit inaccurate.

If worse comes to worst, then we can go with it, but I think there are better alternatives if we're willing to look.

I'll hereby throw in my chips for France... good position, not bad traits, acceptable UU. I'll give them a good name again.

I find Europa map good but of course we should randomize the resources.
But in all cases I want to start in the south-east and change some tribe (ottomans or greek or else) to bulgarians

I think some of the tiles along the Nile should be floodplains instead of grassland but otherwise it is fine with me.

Yes, all resources, goody huts and bonus grassland tiles will be randomized for the final version.

Does anyone want specific colors?

I got dibs on white. I am not being pink, I'll tell you that now.

Also, what preferences do peopl want on/off? Default rules? Accelerated Production? Respawning? Random seed? Etc.

I think everything should be default.
