	How do I get over him/her? Put an end to popups!

This is a thread for everyone. Basically its for those of us who just can't get over someone.

Please help me. There's a girl I can't get over. We hooked up, and she convinced me that she wanted me. Then she found some hot guy and decided to go for him. Then he used her, and she came back to me, and sucker I am I went for it. Used me again, and now she just wants to be friends. I can't get over her. It's not like I can just hook up with other girls (though I did try that...it didn't work). So please, how do I get over her?

bury yourself in some other thing that youar ereally into (possible try to find a new girl, but not neccessarily)

I'll never understand why it's difficult to get over people.

Just try not to get emotionally attached in the future and I'd imagine it'd be easier.

better to get emotionally attached and not get hurt though

Emperor you need to make a clean break from this hoe and find an outlet.

Don't you feel embarrassed that you are playing yourself by beating yourself up and wasting energy by someone that used you? Why are you letting someone else dictate your life like that?

Now, you just can't turn the hurt off but you can decide what to do with it -- turn it into a positive energy for example.

So I've got this long-term relationship with one person and a strong attraction to another person. For the sake of the long-term relationship, I've decided to "get over" the person I'm attracted to (don't argue with me on this point, I've already done that with enough other people). Problem is I'm the bestfriend of the person I'm attracted to, and simply avoiding her would not work. So the question is, how do I make myself lose interest while maintaining the friendship already in place?

And yah, in your case Emperor, I've found that total separation works rather well.

ooo! i'm good at this...well...sometimes...
ok ok ok. ummm.....many ways:
1) realize that if you got back together with them, they prolly wouldn't be the same person..they'd be meaner to you...
2) ask yourself if you really love them or are just dependent on them.
3) realize that there isn't ONe person for anyone..there are many ...100's...thousands that will work.
4) pint of ice cream and some movie....
5) talking to friends for hours on end
6) doing something to get your mind off it...eventually she will fail....
7) be their "friend" so you can eventually get sick of them and just stop hanging around them.

Or you could do what I did/tend to do - bury yourself in work, work 40+ hours a week along with school when you really don't have to financially.

Getting "over" somebody is best accomplished by standing up for yourself. You miss what you wanted her to be, and you need to realize she isn't all that.
( I'm taking a guess here, since you didn't describe her as an unselfconscious, scholarly swimsuit-model.)

Personally (read: speaking from experience ), I'd say your mistake was taking her back. That was when you should've realized that she doesn't know who/what she wants. But don't say it that way, just say, "Sorry." No more explanation than that.

If she's really interested in you, she'll find an emotionally mature way to earn your trust over time. If she's just looking for a soft place to land let somebody else volunteer to take the heartache.

I fell in love with someone a few years ago and couldn't get over him for a long time. It's not as easy as just choosing to forget about them or something like that, as the heart isn't so easily controllable. All I can say is that time has allowed me to move on. And no, you can't "just be friends." That will **** you up even more. Having something you want that close to you and yet unobtainable is frustrating to no end. Best to end contact.
