	How long before PETA whines about this? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

BLACK Hawk helicopters, the Screaming Eagles paratroopers . . . now the US army has a new elite winged unit – desert chooks.

Yesterday, it was revealed that American troops going into battle in Iraq will use chickens to detect chemicals or nerve agents.

Despite carrying the latest in military technology, the US is concerned pollution from oil installations will clog up detection equipment, hindering efforts to pick up traces of poisonous gases or chemical agents.

Chickens will be placed in cages on the top of their Hum-Vee vehicles.

The smallest traces of gases or chemicals will kill the birds, warning the troops to put their gas masks on.

Soldiers have dubbed the operation KFC – for Kuwait Field Chicken. Hens were used in a similar role in the 1991 Gulf War.

ugh...PETA will have a fit They value the life of chickens more than the lives of humans. I wrote a research paper on PETA. Its shocking and disgusting some of the things they say and do...but thats their plan. Bad publicity is publicity just the same.

notice how they didn't complain when those ******* anti-war demonstrators punched a horse and dragged it to the ground. That is because most PETA members are also anti-war demonstrators.

If I were to have any respect for PETA at all, I would expect them to put up a reward and force prosecution on the person who punched a police horse.

I have to agree with you big D. These people are nutty leftos who think it is ok to assult women who wear fir coats or to destroy thousands of dollars worth of ranching equipement, that some poor farmer can't afford to replace, so they can "save" cows but then they turn a blind eye when there fellow leftiests actually abuse animals.

A few years ago some Palestinians strapped explosives to a donkey and sent it into a settlement. PETA was outraged. Bringing donkeys into people's arguments and all. Clearly they should have strapped the explosives to a 5 year old.

Off-topic...while I wouldn't condone punching the horse, you're being a little one-sided in the description. The cops were being complete *******s and were aggressively pushing and shoving protesters for no reason. They used their horses to push into the crowds, and people were being crushed and suffocating. I was actually on the phone with a friend who was there right as a cop on a horse came up and started pushing into the crowd, and you could hear the people start screaming.

If the cops had behaved themselves--like the protesters did, overwhelmingly--then maybe the incident wouldn't have happened in the first place.

Horses can trample people in a matter of seconds. If the cops were stupid enough to actually use one against a large crowd (instead of just having the threat of having them there...which usually works pretty well) then the horse's life is forfeit.

They should just be glad the crowd didn't decide to trample the cop.

Shows what you know about quality meat. Hey, dumbass, why do you think we only eat herbivores (excepting fish)? There's not a big market for wolf, wolverine, etc. meat, although some folks eat game animals for the decadence of it. The best meat is grain/veggie fed.

BTW, I've had a cop use a horse on me. Wasn't pleasant, but I got off with only a minor injury. My thumb was jammed pretty bad when I put up my hands to defend myself. Not a terribly big deal, but it still hurt.

I heard a different take from the actual cops who called into a radio show. The cops were being pelted by things thrown at them.

I never thought about this but it sort of makes sense. Of course all of our domesticated animals that end up on the dinner plate are herbavores but is that because herbavores taste better or because they were much easier to herd and tend to then a pride of lions? I'm going to have to try lion or killer whale or something so we can put the theory to the test.
