What happens if we name one of our units, let's say a Num Merc, after a mod or one of the gOdz, let's say MarkG (so we are talking about MarkG the Merc) and say he gets into a tumble with an enemy unit, let's say a worker, and loses?
What kind of respect will one of the gOdz be able to expect from us after that? It would be a theological disaster! We can't name units after gOdz or mOdz. It just wouldn't be healthy.

That's why I suggested that we should use a combination of options 1 & 2. Every uniquely named unit could be one of a series of units. The enemy wouldn't have any idea about our troop strength from the numbers because they wouldn't know how many unique names there were.
Or we could just start with a coded numbering system such as "warrior_name-231158"
Where you would insert the unique name and the coded number. The number could be coded like this; the first two digits represent nothing the next would represent the city (from the order in which a city was built) from which it came, the next would be the unit number (in chronological order), and the last two nothing.
For example:
231158
23=nothing(would be random numbers)
1=our first city we built
1=our first unit we built (from our first city)
58=nothing(would be random numbers)
or
67124378
67=nothing
12=our 12th city
43=our 43rd unit (from our 12th city)
78=nothing
It's a covert way of numbering units to allow for maximum ordering and identification of those units. AND, it allows us to use unique names (even to recycle those names also).

If we recycled the names we could units that had the same name, plus some would like to be able to track units from the very begining.
