Mods usually ONLY have the power to edit posts also; but ALL can do it here.

Would to care to test this? Whether or not another could delete your post? Why don't you go ahead and post somethnig here, like: "delete me" and I'll see if I can do it.

Besides, whenever anybody edits a post .. even if they didn't write it originally ... the post is stamped with their name and the time they did it - see what I did to GT's post above this one (note: I didn't delete any text, just made an addition).

It isn't possible for us to edit each other's posts without it being obvious to everybody that we have done so.

But I edited his post within 5 minutes and my name didn't pop-up on the bottom; just one of the things we'll have to live with I guess.

But I STILL want to know what happened to my post. Wouldn't you be a little dismayed if one of your suddenly went AWOL?

SIGN UP LIST FOR PBEM GAME Suffering from ads?

I don't know all the details of how these boards operate, so I guess that could've caused it.

Oh well, not to worry about it would be best.

Here's the game set-up I had (I think )

We are going to use the same setting and Civ's as in the ISDG game, including the same play order. This will be a PBEM game.

Put your name and email address next to the numbers below, order doesn't matter right now.

I will assign a Civ to each player based on a random event. I'm going to use the NYSE's closing numbers on the day after these spots are filled to determine play order, with the last number in that sequence being the player who will have turn #1(Indians); with the rest of the players following in the order below. So if 4 is the number, the player listed at #4 below will be India and will have the first turn. #5 below would have the second turn and would be the Egyptians and so on until all the spots are filled.

We need 8 players total.

3. BetaHound brucehynes57@rogers.com

4. Tarquinius redmar_damsma@hotmail.com

5. Panzer32 dmurray5 [censored] cogeco.ca

6. E_T e_t_1@mpinet.com

7. Trip TripGoT (at) hotmail.com

8. ZargonX jhaddockTAKEOUT@crunchable.net (take out the TAKEOUT, of course...)

Just use the 'edit' feature to put your name on the list, don't forget your address also.

P.S. Please, do not delete me.

Ok with every one except ZargonX signed up (I added him in since he would be #8 anyways) we are ready to assign Civ's to people.

Since the Dow ended today at 7,775.60; we use 6 as the place number for the person that is going to get the first turn. Number 1 will play the first turn and be assigned the Civ that also played the first turn in the ISDG game:

1. E_T -- Indians -- e_t_1@mpinet.com

2. Trip -- Egyptians -- TripGoT@hotmail.com

3. ZargonX -- Persians -- jhaddock@crunchable.net

4. bigfree1 -- Ottomans -- bigfree1@attbi.com

5. GeneralTacticus -- Carthinigians -- angusniven@hotmail.com

6. BetaHound -- Chinese -- brucehynes57@rogers.com

7. Tarquinius -- Arabs -- redmar_damsma@hotmail.com

8. Panzer32 -- French -- dmurray5 [censored] cogeco.ca

If people want to switch among themselves, that's fine, ask someone if they want to switch.

Since E_T has the first turn may I ask you to set-up the game according to the parameters of our ISDG game? I would like for the game to start tommorow, March 6, any questions?

Also it would be nice if we could arrange a chat session so that we could play some of the early turns fairly quickly; can everyone make it for sometime Saturday between 7pm and 9pm GMT?

Post below if you can make it.

Sorry - had three to play before this one - and this one didn't load. Civ 3 message says file may be corrupt - it worked OK with the other three.

Are we using 1.21? I am still playing with 1.14.

Tried again and it shut Civ3 down altogether.

Got spare money?

I'm using 1.21 and it worked fine. I'd assume then that E_T set the game up using 1.21.

There's a thread in the PBEM forum of how to install both versions by using two different zip files to overwrite game files needed by both versions. I haven't tried it, but it sounded pretty solid.

I played with 1.14f, which means E_T was using 1.14f, which means the game '1.21f-ized' between Zargon and General Tacticus. I don't think it's Zargon, because he plays for Legoland with the 1.14f save.

So it sounds like we were intending to play the game with 1.14. But the question is will trying to open a 1.21 save with 1.41 give the result I got - Civ3 Error message that save was corrupt - or is there another issue with the save? That is what I am not sure of. Will crank civ 3 up and try it again.

OK - still doesn't work. Here is what happens. And I have tried both load methods.

Under the multi-play method - I get this -

First - small windows pop up message - "DataIO - Operation System Error. BIC"

Then - Civ3 pop up message - "Scenario Invalid - Could not open scenario. File may be corrupt."

Then the system reports an error with Civ3 and shuts it down.

Under the Load Game method - I get this -

First - small windows pop up message - "DataIO - Operation System Error. BIC" (same as above)

Then - Civ 3 pop up - "Load Error. Error Reading File C/ ....... etc 4000BC.SAV"

Civ3 does not shut down.

Tired of ads?

Yes, we are playing as 1.14f. Whomever has 1.21f, please replay the save and send it on to the next person. the save's are aparently NOT backwards compatable.

Until we have the ISDG and the PTW DG upgrade as a whole, I will not upgrade. I could set up a separate game like I did with the SPDG (I still have CivIII 1.21 and 1.29 on my machine), but I'm starting to run out of Hard drive space.

bigfree1, you seem to be the one that has caused a problem. Please copy all of your PTW files onto a separate folder and reload the 1.14f patch in to it. THat's how we have done it in the SPDG with a dual install. Then play this game with that.

GeneralTacticus, have you upraded to the 1.21f patch also. because that's the only way that you wouldn't have a problem with bigfree1's save.
