	Who the hell is Rush Limbaugh ? Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I've read some of This modern world's archive today, and I've seen the author put a particular emphasis to Rush Limbaugh. I went to Rush Limbaugh's web, and understood it was a conservative, clearly Republican TV show. It occured to me it was the successful window of the Republican party, but these are my personal conclusions. I'd like to know more about these guys, so I'd like to ask the Americans here some questions :

- Is he widely watched in the country ?

- Is his viewpoint considered reasonable by the right, or is he considered out of the loop ?

- Is he supported by any way by the Republicans or the White House ?

- On which channel is he aired ?

- Does anyone here use him as his sole source of information, or consider him a reliable source of information ?

He is far right.

He is a RADIO personality, and is listened to by about 14 million people daily.

His views aren't really supported directly by the Republicans or the White House, but they do probably apprechiate all he's done for them (he was considered one of the main guys behind the Republican Revolution of '94).

He isn't very reliable. He tends to make stuff up at times, BUT he never claimed he was the news. He always asserts he is entertainment.

Rush is mainly Radio: he hasn't been regularly on TV (at elast in NY) for a long time.

He is very conservative, he does have a significant listernership, and no, he isn't out in right field as far as conservative commentators in the US are concerned.

Of course, I don't listen to him at all.

He used to have a TV show that was widely watched also.

He is like ANY other political pundit, some decent ideas and some stupid ideas. He just gets a lot more play than any other.

Oh, and both Liberals and Conservatives I've spoken to that have heard his show say he is utterly hilarious. The few times I've listened to him, I have to say that is true (even though I might not agree with him).

Limbaugh has been broadcasting nationwide since '88. He is a highly partisan republican who makes fun of liberals and democrats daily. Some of what he has done is very funny, especially his imitations of Bill Clinton. He has coined words that have become widely used in the lexicon, such as FemNazi.

He has a nationwide audience of 20 million, one of the largest audiences of any kind in the history of media. He is the reason that so many other right-wing talk shows are now dominating US radio.

Liberals cannot get an audience. Many have tried and failed. They are boring by comparision to the right wing. So liberals tend to listen to Limbaugh.

Donahue, a radical liberal, for example, was put on FOX only six months ago to counter Bill O'Reilly, a conservative. Donahue failed and has been cancelled.

I have been listening to Limbaugh since the beginning and know he is just having a lot of fun with the liberals. He pretends to be an ego-maniac (half my brain tied behind my back to make it fair) as a part of his humor.

Donahue failed because he was by and large an unscrupulous jerk who cut his segments apart to change his guests words around.........while Limbaugh is a psychotic he isnt BAD(just very, very wrong), he isnt intentionally doing harmfull things, Donahue on the other hand is morally corrupt.


Summary: Donahue failed because he was an unscrupulous animal and the moment he aired an interview, the interviewe, realizing the segment had been chopped up to twist his words, blacklisted him.

Limbaugh isnt bad, just wrong.

He makes fun of people, spreads mistruths, and pretends to be an expert on many things that he really isn't too knowledgable about. I don't find him funny, because he is so stupid that I can hardly listen too him for long.

Vesayen, Limbaugh generally is entertainment. He tries to poke fun at liberals. However, I do admit that he is a lot less fun today than he used to be. I suspect his hearing problem may be a cause.

Reasonable. He has people who call in that are much more conservative then he is and he has people call in who are much more liberal (but still conservative) call in.

He is reliable. I would never use anything as a sole source. I am fairly liberal but listen to conservative talk shows. This show is more opinions and represents a conservative stance similar (probably a little further right) than Bush.

I tried watching to Donahue. But I got bored because all he seemed to be about was knee-jerk liberalism and PC platitudes. I hadn't realized he was editing his guest's answers.

O'Reilly is a lot more entertaining.

Where is Geraldo Rivera when you need him? Let the chairs begin to fly and the broken noses bleed. Ah! Those were the days.

Well, Geraldo has joined FOX and you will find him right him right in the middle of the action giving very entertaining reports. I believe today he is reporting from Turkey.
