Full PM-box? Change here!

I would like to pop the hut in the far north with our first warrior, and the hut in the south with our second warrior. The other hut near the mountain can wait, as it is off the exploration path. (So I voted certain ones)

I think we should pop the hut in the north immediately.

For the two in the south we should pop the one furthest from our Capitol and if we get anything but barbs, we should then proceed to pop the other. If we get barbs from the first, then we need to make sure that our Cap is protected first by at least another warrior (so we would wait until the granery is done and then build another warrior) before we pop the second.

If we see another Civ come snooping along, pop it immediately, I don't care what units we got at home!

How about popping the one in the north, and sending W2 to pop the one to the west, followed by moving onto the adj. hills.

Send W3 out to south and then west to pop the southern hut?

Just a side note to the North Hut, we should make sure to switch our research temporarily to Ceremonial Burial before opening it, as then Bronze Working becomes the most likely tech we get. Pottery should be finished next turn, so then after popping the hut we can set it to whatever (Writing/IW/Mathmatics if we get BW, BW if not?).

Pop 'em sequentially, but pop 'em. As had been said, we probably have neighbors near, and if one of them happens to be expansionist, well, we certainly don't want them taking bonuses out from underneath us because we were playing it safe now, would we?

Yes, switching to Ceremonial Burial is a must, as that will be the cheapest unresearched tech. This also brings an interesting question... (sorry for the thread-jack) Should we get lucky and get Bronze Working from the hut, what should our next research goal be?

Iron Working is very important. However, there is probably someone near by who is already researching it, or, if there's no one nearby, then it becomes less important. Going up the Alphabet-Writing path may be the best choice in that case.

I'm ok with opening the N hut.

The central hut we should leave for a later Warrior. Going back NW with Warrior 2 after coming S, SW, SE (as would happen if we go for the SE hut), is just horribly inefficient scouting.

The S hut isn't too bad, but I'd rather leave it for later. That it's in the Jungle makes it 'safer' than otherwise... If you had Scouts would you be wasting their moves trudging through Jungle if there were other exploration options still available? The path isn't a likely one for civs pushing through the Jungle either.

Of course this is all based off what I think is efficient scouting... a civ running around in circles and/or wasting their Scouts movement could very well run into it.

--------------------

With our commerce poor location, we may very well get beaten to Writing. Mathmatics is a more likely 'big' tech that we can get. There's something to be said for Cats + NM's as well.

The Wheel. We can't count on getting it from any neighbour, it allows us to spot the horses we are most likely on top of for extra commerce, and it gives us more military options.

Iron Working after that. We are not alone.

... but not this. We should seek to avoid having to fight with the Mercs due to the GA. Better to have Chariot and Sword, or Horse and Sword to deal with any early 'speed bumps'.

I would not suggest the Wheel. If you'll notice, our territory does not promote usage of mobile units well...

Yes, but the commerce from the Horse tile would be welcome, and defensive counter attacks with fast movers can devastate an advancing enemy. Also, the actual units are far off, so the possibility of a road through the worst of the jungle is very possible.

I wasn't meaning that we should research Mathmatics and then take off to conquer the world (or our landmass even). Just that I think it's more likely than Writing to be a good second tier tech to start on. Writing's benefit is trade (both the tech and comms), and if we miss it by a few turns as it likely, we won't have gained anything with researching it.

IW or The Wheel could both be good options. I'd prefer IW of the two. In the Jungle Swords are going to be more important than Horses.

Actually we'd be right next to the S hut right now (not that I'd recommend popping it then either, but you guys would have 2 huts next turn) instead of being 2 turns behind with our southern scouting. City 2 would uncover the other hut, and probably do less damage to us than it's looking like seeing it now is going to. This would make our getting BW twice as likely. In the north, we are either on pace with what I recommended, or half a turn behind. Either way because of the location of the hut we'd end up even next turn.

If you're going to 'I told you so' at least try to keep things straight, eh? Besides, huts are random and they don't apply to that type of hindsight.

I am not sure if I am stating the obvious or not (I do not have the save), but here it is..

I have no real sense of the build state of teh game, but...

No matter what we do, we should make sure that we do not have a settler in production or in existance when poping a hut, especially if we have less cities than other civs. This will help in poping settlers

Got spare money?

I actually find it unusual that we have not run into another civ yet. I would have thought that we would have by now. In the PTWDG, we came across other civs very quickly.

I would like the people from lego to speak up about their experience with being a solitude civ (and the Carthage BTW). If we are alone (and we need to think of this possibility) we should be looking at the MM/Lit route (MM for boats and Lit for the Great Library when we finaly contact someone).

Woohoo! Mayhem in the threads! Well reasoned arguments all of them. My pick would be the Wheel, for the ability to spot Horses and have fast moving units. Can they still withdraw in shite terrain? Hopefully we shouldn't be fighting near our homelands anyway.

What're all these hut-popping facts people seem to know? And where is the thread that describes them?
