	Is the directory broken? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Heya all,

I just got an email from a reader who wanted to get to a SMAC fiction that was archived in the directory. He said that he tried to click on the links to get to the archived story but the forum was unable to bring up the relevant thread.

The thread that has the story is quite old (last updated sometime late July 2002) so maybe that has caused it to fall off the radar?

Anyway, just thought I'd bring this up to the attention of the powers that be.

Actual it is a anti server load bug that Morkos added to the directory, to reduce the server load, it should go away if you enable the stupid cookie stuff. However if I try it and try to log in over there I return again and again to the same log in form.

How do I enable the cookie stuff? I've already enabled the "username/password" sign in cookie, so that Apolyton knows who I am each time I access from this computer. Is there something I'm missing?

So far as I know the cookies have to be enabled both in your profile (browse with cookies) and in your browser. In Mozilla you find it under edit -> preferences... from the menue bar. And there should be a category privacy (if this is the proper name in the English version for it), with a subcategory cookies.

Edit: Nice to see you again in the forum, Markos, so when will the java chat room be fixed? Actual off-topic but I don't have the feeling you read the according thread.

Heya Mark, good to see you.

There's a single forum thread entitled "Joe" which is the name of a piece of fan fiction I wrote for SMAC. It should be in the SMAC Fiction thread. It's also in the directory.

The strange thing is that I can't open it up in any way. Whenever I click on the link, it brings up a "cannot find page" message.

i dont think it has something to do with cookies, i disable cookies on mozilla and everything worked again....

I can't get that thread to load either. All I get is "The page cannot be found" message. Using IE6, btw


edit: Upon further testing, I can't get the first page to load only when set to 50 posts per page. The page does load when set to 10, 20 or 30 post per page

The link didn't work for me either.

(I'm on 50 posts per page too, in case that makes a difference, but I doubt it does.)

all attempts to load the thread at 50 ppp have failed (about 8), while all attempts at other settings have worked (2 tries at 10, 2 tries at 20, 3 tries at 30, 1 try at forum default)

I manually set the posts per page to values between 30 and 60 and the thread displays just fine up to 41 posts per page. Any number above that (42-60, as well as 70, 75 and 100) doesn't work
