I'm told by my daughter that there's rumor of an anti-Christ being born around 1969 or so.
That would be oddly coincidental, given that Christ died at the age of 34.

Thermodynamics?

The Three Laws:

0) The zeroth law was discovered after the other two, yet it is considered important enough to come before the others numerically, hence it is known as the zeroth law of thermodynamics. The zeroth law states that when two different systems are sitting in thermal equilibrium with a third system, they are also in thermal equilibrium with each other. In other words, if a=c and b=c, then a=b.

1) The first law states that when heat is added to a system, some of that energy stays in the system (increasing the internal energy of the system) and some leaves the system (increasing the energy of the area around the system from which the energy originated). Thus, if you place a pot of water on a hot stove (putting energy into the system), the water will first heat up, then it will release some of the energy to the surrounding air (causing an increase in the surrounding air temperature).

*2) The second law states that it is impossible to have a cyclic process that converts all heat into work. It states as well that it is impossible to have a process that transfers heat from cooler objects to warmer objects without using work. In layman's terms, the first part means that no reaction can 100% efficient, for some energy is always and inevitably lost to heat. The second part simply says that a warmer object cannot be further heated by a cooler object unless some energy is added. Thus, the second law essentially states that the universe is constantly using up energy (since no reaction is either cyclic or 100% efficient) and that it will therefore eventually be reduced to cold and darkness.

Nostradamus had named the antichrist twice in his quatrains. First he is called Mabus, second he uses the clue "the last but one of the prophets name". If the prophet is taken to be Nostradamus himself, you take the last two syllables damus.

Now I ask you, what name comes to mind when you look at the letters damus and mabus. If its not Saddam, I don't know who else it would be.

I taught Revelations to an adult Sunday school class for 7 months. Even with the Daniel prophecies, its hard to draw any definite conclusions about the end times. I remember reading a book saying the end of the world would be in 1993. What was facinating was that it was very convincing except for the fact that I was reading it in 1997. Don't believe everything you read. Edgar Cayce predicted some interesting stuff and his trances were quite amazing, but after exhaustive study of all this stuff, I find there is little point to it. You could get run over by a truck tomorrow, just live your life.

You're better off reading history and try not to repeat the mistakes of others than you are trying to figure out the future.

You've misstated the first law, forgotten the third law (the entropy of a perfect crystal at absolute 0 is 0) and gotten (to my knowledge) your facts wrong regarding the "discovery" of the zeroth law (in my thermo class the prof implied that it was added in later to formalise derivations etc. but in actuality was taken as given long before the others, since the very notion of temperature requires an understanding of the zeroth law).

My question was what thermodynamics has to do with Newton.

How do you explain the empty tomb testified by both the Jewish officials and the Christians? The Jews insisted that the Christians must have stolen the body despite the presence of guards and a huge stone over the entrance to the tomb, thus admitting that the tomb was empty.

Christ died, but where did the body go?

Wasn't the end of the times coming in 2000 ? At least, that's what I heard from a friend who had just read St John's Apocalypse, and who insisted on how close to the book the elements in late 1999 were...

I guess there is enough symbolism every year to speculate on how near the End is. It is not hard to discover some prophetical symbolism pretty anywhere.
Example (only for those who played and Loved Chrono Trigger), discover how Chrono trigger is in fact a premise of the Doom

Of course, the head of Korea's Unification Church, Rev Moon, predicted the world would end in 1994 (something like that). A bunch of Koreans believed him, sold their belongings and waited for the world to end. He was wrong. Then same other guy in Taiwan predicted the end of the world in 1998 (something like that). He was wrong too.

You know, my first thought on seeing this topic was, "Oh, Christ." How appropriate.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, no matter how weird they may seem to anyone. But to be perfectly honest, it scares the living heebie-jeebies right out of me that the Leader Of The Free World shares many of the same views espoused in the opening post.

The Left Behind books are a bunch of biblical half-truths blended together with Tom Clancy to take advantage of bible thumpers looking for some great spirtual meaning.

How your sequence involving the rapture comes to happen is just as likely as me waking up tomorrow, becoming ambassador to Britan and then being crowned the next king.

The Babylon in the Apocalypse is not the city of Babylon, but rather the city of Rome.
If Christians are already being persecuted by the hundreds of thousands than they are not dumb enough to carry around a document proclaiming the coming fall of Rome, their persecutor. Their intelligence led to the invention of Christian apocalyptic imagery (based off of Jewish imagery)

The best way to learn the imagery is on an academic level such as THE OXFORD BIBLE COMENTARY.

Reasoning: all other books are biased by the agenda of the writer: ie Lutheran, Catholic, Rapturist, etc.

On Nostradomas: He has never been right about any prediction where he uses specific names or the names of places. I am sure if I wrote a library or two of vague, generic predictions I would be right once in a while.

Myth and legend is not enough to account for the resurrection belief, there wasn't time for myth to develop. Pauls letters are from about 55 AD, just 25 years after the fact, and the resurrection was already well established in the creed. Luke also testifies that eyewitnesses were present in his day. Legends take centuries not decades to form.

A discussion of Jesus is a whole nother topic, but he is the key figure in the end times. Interestingly, even Jesus doesn't know when it will be, so anyone claiming such knowledge is full of crap.

Some reasons for inconsistencies in the Old Testament and New Testament

-The four writers are writing to different audience.
-Scholars/editors/translators errors.
-Many texts became unreadible or lost (First Corinthians is actually Second Corinthians)
-The writimgs are a collection of multiple forms of Christianity written throughout the first 150-200 years after the Death of Christ

Finally: Modern publishing companies are watering down bibles worse than ever before. rather than strive for accuracy they strive for the bottom line. They would rather have higher sales by making a bible fit your belief than making an accurate bible that may disagree with you and alienate you (thus you would buy a different bible to suit your needs).

You're going to need to provide a Roman source about them claiming the Christians stole the body.
