Eh, it's more complex.

Part of the reason Canada's junior teams aren't that great is a rule specific to Canada, if you play college hockey you can't play in the Juniors. Which most of the good players do.

There are Juniors leagues, and then the college hockey circuit.

Juniors is defined as <20, IIRC.

Well, my home city team bought two Canadian players about year ago. They were out of class. Poor players, all what they did were fist fights, and after they broke their noses a couple of times we send them home. We bought some Czechs instead- Martin Prohazka, Pavel Patera, Irzhy Shlegar.
