If a city in the fog of war builds a harbor, will we know about it? I mean, will it have the anchor symbol?

How? Both GoW and RP have the habours required.
That leaves only ND.
My guess of what's coming is based on this.
The outsiders have been selected for elimination.
The stalwarts of GoW, Lego, and RP are all familiar with each other from the SPDG. That leaves us, Vox, and ND as the odd men out. Yes, I was in the SPDG from beginning to end, but I never engaged in the spam that endeared the others to each other. Sir Ralph was around too, but left after a time.
None of the regulars from Vox were around too much either, except for BH.
My guess is that RP and GoW have bought Vox to occupy us while they and GoW take ND down. Lego figures in there somehow, I am sure. Why would they not? ND proved themselves very adept by their start in this game and the end of Lux. Now they are repeating that in ther ISDG. Fear? Maybe.
Us? We have been feared ever since Vel signed on to post once or twice about our civ choice. They do not know that he is no longer here. As if Aeson would not be enough. And then a lot of them are familiar with Sir Ralph from the SPDG. Then add all the regulars from the strat forum who have had very good ideas... Add that to the fact that if they were comparing economy sizes they saw that GS was #1 in ManGoods and GNP, and that we were being left alone to build.
Why do you think this is happening, and how does a Civ with 4 cities capable of production think they can take us on after giving us a 6 turn warning? Grog is owed more than this nation can every build. He bought us 4 turns.
Last item I would point out. The two big, bad, outsiders have links. We are a very international team. Aside from Sir Ralph, we have many people who could be expected to be able to communicate and get on well with ND. Add to that that they and we are seldom seen nor heard from... Do the math from RP's, Legos and GoW's POVs.
Where am I going with this? I am done for now. I just thought I would share the bolt from the blue that just hit me while responding to Dominae.

They still at pop 4? They need 40 shields to rush it, or 20 and pop 6. They could step rush it at pop 5 with 1 shield. They rush the Library, cost 2 pop (5->3), change to Temple, rush that, cost 1 pop (3->2), change to Harbor, and rush it (2->1). That leaves them with 3 unhappy people for 20 turns though, so it hurts them quite a bit to do. |
can you trade workers without a harbor?

If you have an embassy with a team, you can see its trades in F4, just like in SP. Of course, this only tells if a trade is possible, and if it is present, not what is being traded. But as we have an embassy with Vox, we should spot if they get e.g. iron from someone, certainly if 1 turn later they declare war to get a 1 turn deal.
Actually, this should become standard procedure from now on in the saves: check whether Vox has iron and / or horses by trying to offer it to them (if they don't have it, we should get a greyed out "iron(0)"; if they have it, we see nothing). Further checking if they are receiving any trades.
But I too thought that both civs need a connection to a harbor in order to be able to trade intercontinentally.

Maybe we can see it in the details once we have a spy there, I'm not sure on that

when I stated my previous question, i was really referring to the gold for peace trade, but worded it poorly.
If RP knows that we can't see that, then they might be doing that to avoid detection.

As DeepO said, we made the mistake of following our treaty-called for 10 turn na after ending the tech end. We had basically no army when war was declared
However:
Vox made two huge mistakes in the planning of this attack.
1. They allowed Grog to stay on the northern mountain for thousands of years. He would provide warning of southern troop movement, so he was snuffed out. Saving us what 6 turns?
2. they landed 2 immortals to the east to take out Ouch. Huge mistake. He committed suicide, we killed the immortal with our chariot firing our GA and making an elite unit.
Since the legos got the pyramids the next turn, this proved crucial, as we were planning for it to trigger the GA
I honestly don't know if we could have handled the 15 or so immortals we can see now had that not happened. If we would have had to wait to fire the GA......
We have reason to believe that RP is funding this war, ie the warrior->immortal upgrades and now Togas hatred for GS and NYE (not joking there)
They also won't buy feudalism from us....
GoW recently paid us 200 for feudalism, without which we would be hurting,so doubtful if they are in on it too much, they are probalby gearing for war along with RP against ND, who has been quite isolationist.
legos-who knows. they won't buy feudalism off us
theres more of course, but that is the short version.

I might not be around much, but I could not, in good conscience, ignore the call put out by a fellow team member. So....after dinner, I shall start pouring over everything we know about VoX, our current standings and such, and see where I can lend a hand (if that's cool with you guys).
Some questions and stuff off the top of my head....maybe you guys can point me to the relevant threads containing this information so I can refine my search?
1) Who are we up against? Meaning, who's on the Vox team? NYE mentioned some MP veterans?
2) They've got 4 cities to our 6, if I'm reading the info in this thread correctly, yes?
3) 15+/- Immortals we can see, yes? (does this include the 2 toasted in the ill-concieved flank attack that gave us the 'leet, or no?) And estimates I'm seeing here give them, worst case, a total of 25 (plus assumed production in their cities) (and does the worst case 25 include the two dead?)
4) How many *available* units do we have (barring totally stripping cities) to play with now, what are they, and how many of our cities are currently working on units (and what units are they working on)
5) Have we snagged any wonders/minor wonders?
6) What's the latest intel we have on all our rivals (vox especially, but everybody else too).
Nancy's home with dinner, but I'll be back directly, and I'm looking forward to participating in the discussions!
With a smaller civ leading the attack, it's a fair bet that they not only got a wave of financing sufficient to convert all those warriors to immortals, but quite probably, are recieving ongoing financial aid. Given that we're bigger, they have to know they can't out-produce us, long term, and so a single financial injection would not be sufficient (especially in light of an already failed flank effort) to win the day.
We should also assume that they're going for the jugular. This is not a pruning attack....it's a move to exterminate.....least that's my take so far....will continue my reading shortly!

Betahound, Konquest are the ones I know best.
quote: 2) They've got 4 cities to our 6, if I'm reading the info in this thread correctly, yes? |
They've got 7 cities, 4 of which are at size 1, the highest size they have is 4. We've got 13 cities, one 11, one size 10, and 5 size 1's. Both teams are in their GAs.

Actually, I think that currently, we're looking at some 25 immortals at most, plus another 5 or so warriors to get upgraded the moment they reach Dissidentville (closest Vox city to us) We see about 15 immortals, yes, 3 on our East coast, 11 next to Arashi 9 (the mountain 9 from Arashi), 1 closer to Monsoon, probably heading to the stack of Arashi. There could be more reinforcements heading their way, however we don't think many of them. Also, it is possible that next turn, another 2 immortals get dropped of near our East coast.

See the turn thread, I think. You will also find more information in the infocenter thread. And the mailbox mentioned in one of the topped threads has the last screenshot, you can ask the save from someone who has it (only a few chose to receive it over e-mail, I'm not one of them)
quote: 5) Have we snagged any wonders/minor wonders? |
the great lighthouse, as Legoland build the pyramids one turn before we would, and we needed Hurricane (size 11) for unit building immediately. In a few turns, Hurricane will be producing 30 shields a turn.

Velociryx-
Do you have PTW?
if so we can send you the save. A bit easier when you can personally eyeball the situation.
