I'm trying to recreate assault ships like the US's Tarawa and Wasp classes. In addition to being able to carry combat aircraft, they also have large quantities of helicopters used to transport marines. Is it not possible to make a carrier that can also transport helicopters?
Can you make a ship that can transport both air and foot units? Then I could just load a jet fighter, marine, and paratrooper all on the assault ship, and pretend the paradrop function (can you use that from on board a ship?) is the LHD's helicopters dropping off the troops.

I gotta say; That sucks!!! I have been drawing up a mod, with same thing in mind. You need an Ampibious Assault Ship to bring your mechanized transports and your hovercrafts to land. They can't traverse the open ocean. Also, like noted: these ships supply harriers, helicopters, troops, transports, that really is an important ship to not be able to make! I'm still going to try, doesn't hurt, could just waste time though...

You CAN put armies (which contain land units) onto sea transports... but I don't see that helps much.
Will mess around with the editor over Easter and see if can can suss it...

I agree that carriers should always have escorts. There really not themselves assault ships, cargo is though. I have been messing with numbers a bit and haven't played it all the way through yet, but I put my carriers at 2/8 with a transport of 6 without bombers rebasing on them. Also, I have modified terrain values, but I currently habe my carriers priced at 100 shields. Let's not forget that this is the most expensive single unit I can think of in the military. The Saratoga came in at 4.3 BILLION! The Battleship USS Missouri was 2.75 BILLION!
Now without getting into space program funding and the like, these are very costly, the battleship so much so, we (the USA) don't have a single commisioned battleship in service. The battleships also run about a million $ a day to operate.

hi ,
we should have the "one click for several units" - window , .....
most countries that have carriers , from the US to thailand , spain , brazil , etc , .... protect them with a "carrier group" , a couple destroyers , at least two subs ( us ) etc , ......
the carrier is still the best value for money
have a nice day
