Ah, interesting your numbers stop at 1995.

You probably should have posted the following paragraph that was listed directly above your chart:

However, in 1995, WHO, in collaboration with the European Union, has been able to raise funds and to control the malaria outbreak significantly in the northern provinces.

Universal Health Care would cost less than the current system of Insurance. I read the same Labor study that Che mentioned. But why should rational fact get in the way of stubborn opposition?

A Labor party study - couldn't be a little bit biased, could it?

The grass is always greener... We don't have universal health care, so of course it's cheaper to have a universal health care system. If we had a health care system, it would, of course, be cheaper to privatize it.

I'm a democrat, and I would love universal health care - provided it were financially feesable and remains financially feasable. I don't want to hear, like we do with medicare and social security, that universal healthcare will only be solvent for the next X years. And I am not at all convinced that it wont fall into that trap.

Iraq has the money to afford universal pirmary healthcare...as for more advnaced coverage, that reamins to be seen.

As for the US: our healh care system is a disgrace in which funds are horribly wasted. A piss-poor job is done of preventive care, which is both the cheapest and most important of all, and when people don't have insurance, they are forced to wait till thier condition merits a trip to Emergency care, which means that by then far more money will be spent on it while ER staff is used to do non-emergency tasks.

US healthcare at the botom needs an immense overhaul.

Tired of ads?

On top of this, the US is going to create an adequately funded public secular school system in Iraq.

Does the fact that an Administration that is trying to kill public education at home and is fighting any attempt to have the state mitigate the worst aspects of our health care system at home is doing the exact opposite abroad? On top of that, they're committed to free and fair elections in Iraq. You know, if Bush supported all three of these things at home his handlers would all drop dead from heart atacks.

While in DC, I peaked at a WSJ front page: it was stating how a small company, "creative " something, won the $65 million dollar contract to get 2.1 million Iraqi kids back in school by Oct.

The bushies are syaing Iraq will get this and that...but remember Che how the promised this and that to Afghanistan as well.....

The current admin. thinks it can change the worl, and still be cheap and spend next to nothing. A strange and dangerous combination: Arrogantly ambitious and extremely stingy.

Probably not. I bet they're counting on the mythical oil money which has already been spent three or four times over.

As for getting universal health care here, well, I already have health insurence so you folks can go pay for your own.

We've got a plan for a war. We've got a plan for peace. We've got plans for the oil. Why can't we have a plan for health care? I just wish we had a plan for Americans' health care.

I'm curious how the Administration could even be in a position to kill public education when the federal government doesn't even provide anything aproaching a majority of the funds used for those programs.
