Ok. I need to ask more here. But my impression is that it is not a messanging program like Icq but something related to the cable modem.

You mean, you wouldn't live there from car-lack? Or wouldn't even do a one-time get-together. FYI: I am in the Highlands and bike all over town...

well, in may 31, i'll still be at school in chicago, so the one-time get together wouldn't unfortunately have me there in atlanta.

i've lived in atlanta for 18.5 years of my life, seen most of it, and i got tired of having to drive 40 mins to get anywhere through bad traffic the 1.5 years i could drive.

then again, i lived out in tucker, the suburbs out near clarkston and reasonably close to gwinett, so i pretty much had to drive.

so when i went to chicago for school, i got spoiled on mass transit-- i don't have to pay for insurance, i don't have to pay for gas, i don't have to worry about some dumbass cutting in front of me with no turn signal... and i can get to anywhere in the city, pretty much, for 1.80--just .05 more than marta.

I lived in the Highlands and worked downtown in a skyscraper. Commute with no traffic was under 10 mins. Was 15 mins with traffic in the morning. No big deal at all. I would go to the airport a lot. Would budget 30 mins, but generally need much less.

It's not that bad a town at all. Just live in the Highlands.

Tired of ads?

save yourself some cash and get 'zonealarm' for your firewall and AVP from Grisoft for your virus checker, they're both pretty much as good as commercial offerings

Would appreciate advice on the following:

1. Recommended paid or free virus checker.

2. Any info on this kernel 32 virus (to allow us to rule it out perhaps).

3. Any general troubleshooting advice.

4. Detailed troubleshooting (question by question) if anyone is willing.

To backup Outlook stuff, look in shared folders in program files I think... Or in Windows folder somewhere. If you look hard enough for folders with Outlook on them (there are also folders with numbers I think, weird stuff) there's a folder with one or two files which you can backup. Wish I could be clearer but it's something I did about two years ago or more and I have XP now which has a totally different structure in these matters so I can't check.
I found it by rummaging through weird folders, so can you!

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

New problem. My computer is running slow at starting new applications. Just opening a new window takes a while. And when the new window of explorere opens it starts out half size on the task bar and takes a second to turn into normal size. I am running sbybot and adaware to try to clean up any spies...

Spybot Search and Destroy will show a more verbose list of those applications and where they are running. It also will show you what apps start on startup.

Don't know if you've tried it, but it's much better than Ad Aware.

You're not making sense, playa.

I already spybotted. Plus spybot shows different stuff from what the ctrl alt del shows. Plus I can't tell if the processes at ctrl alt del are good or bad anyway.
