MOW Orders Turn 44: 2030 BC
MOW Summary:
Our military is:
Average compared to GCA?
Strong compared to CDG?
Scouting continues and the screen will soon be in place. Apolyton and the city grid well-defended. No enemy units in sight north of CDG.
- NM1 'MerZenary' will move 8 (N).
MerZenary is going north to find that barb camp, and hopefully will pick up some experience while he's gone.
- W2 'BigFree' will move 3 (SE).
BigFree will reach the mountain this turn, where he will once again sit for quite a while.
- W3 'Alva' will move 7 (NW).
Alva is finishing scouting in the eastern peninsula, and will return to the city grid once all of the fog has been removed.
- W4 'Theseus' will move 2 (S) onto the mountain.
Theseus is part of the screen, and will be in place in a few turns.
- W5 'BFW' will move 4 (W).
BFW is scouting in the west, and the goal is to get to the very far edge of the continent with him.
- W7 'WhiteBandit' will move 4 (W).
WhiteBandit will also be part of the Warrior screen with Theseus, but in addition to that he will be uncovering some of the fog to our southwest which will one day be CDG land. All forces will remain in Apolyton if no barbarian or enemy forces come within sight of our city grid. If they do, then NM1 'MerZenary' and W6 'Hagbart' will be moved to the city the enemy unit is closest to, while W8 will remain in Apolyton. The luxury slider will have to be moved accordingly.
Link to the Warrior Screen plans.
The white transparent diamonds are the fields of vision of our Warriors once the screen is in place. Note that WhiteBandit won't stop at his screen location, but will continue scouting out some of the fog for a bit longer.

MoI topped thread will be updated within the next couple of hours. I had to be absent a bit the last two turns because of my last exams, but gladly I see everything has gone according to plan. Consuls: If you do not see me posting in the Turn threads, please use the topped thread as a guide. Like everyone else here, I cannot be online every hour of the day.
Things are looking good economically. With our Worker-force growing, we will not have to use unimproved tiles for long (I cringe when we assign Laborers to unimproved Grasslands!).
Small question: why is our Numidian Mercenary sitting in Apolyton. If it's to defend against Barbs, that's serious overkill, no? If it's to ward off other teams' scouts, there's no point since they cannot see the Merc. Not criticizing, just wondering...

It will be heading north to find that barb camp as soon as our second NM is done. Apolyton is the city furthest north, and is able to reach either Mingapulco or Bananatopia and fortify in 2 turns. That's not the case if it's in another city.
|
My question is then: why would we need the Merc to move and defend? Put another way, what are we defending against? Our Warriors can take care of any Barb attack; are we afraid that CDG (or is it GCA?) will march into our lands with their lone Warrior and attack us?

CDG could stop on our doorstep with a SOD with 5 Warriors. Who knows. |
I would call that overly paranoid, but then again, I'm not the MoW. If they were to send such a SOD our way, I'm sure our scouts (which could be leaving right about now) would spot it.

We also should be careful of baiting them to attack our NM to trigger a premature GA.

If we send another unit toward the chokepoint, we could counter-block CDG's blockade (without fear of losing our units to disease!). Just a thought.

Well, since we would be on our side of the blockade, we could bring in any troops we want; CGG would be stuck with their lone Warrior (who would eventually die from disease). Whatever they would want to accomplish with the blockade, we would be accomplishing as well. Assuming that's the only way to CFC, those two mountains are going to be critical to our defense (plop some Roads and Fortresses on there, and they'll have to use a navy to get to us).

Military units may die every turn they are fortified on a Jungle tile.
Edit: That should read "military units have a chance to die every turn they are...". Sorry about that.
My point is that that isthmus is a key strategic area (the fact that Mountains overlook it is the icing on the cake). We cannot let CDG and CFC monopolize the control of that area. The sooner we lay our claim to the area (unofficially - we just need to park some units there), the better. Just imagine the headaches we would have if CDG established a city on the very spot the Warrior is currently fortified on.
