	Weird... Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Is Apolyton kid-unfriendly? I know that's not the right word for it...AOL-unfriendly?

After checking out civfanatics and other boards, I sometimes go here. And when I was on AOL, mature teen parental controls, THIS happened below:

None of the pictures loaded! It made it really hard to do anything - on threads, all the buttons unloaded required me to scroll side-to-side crazily.

God, I pity you. I escaped from AOL a few months ago and now have Cox cable.

I'm having the same problem, though only on the Subscribed Forums thing.

We're in the process of escaping from it...we got cable just now and we're trying to cancel aol. **** dorks won't let us quit - gave us three months free, and now two more free months.

Still, why is it like this?

It is probably a server glitch, considering how Poly is still recovering from the crash it suffered a few days ago.

Wait - if you have cable, why are you still using AOL? Just because they won't disconnect it doesn't mean you have to use it.

just open IE and view pol through that. you might have to reconfigure it to recognize the LAN connection, but it'll probably be automatic.

I don't think its related to MY problem (that disappeared after a week for no reason whatsoever).

Now that Markos has transferred the images to the main server, the images should be working properly for all. As you can actually access Apolyton, but not the images on the very same server, I'm guessing it is one of two things. Either your DNS server is laughing 20 minutes after a joke is told (its slow) or your unfortunate life of using AOL scum software to browse the internet is having unfortunate side-effects.

I assume it's due to AOL. It's either your parental control settings (I know, sounds stupid, but I assume the filtering could censor ACS' images as p0rn), the AOL browsers (especially this one as it has been proven to be bad, despite AOL 8.0 uses Gecko) or then it's the DNS servers which are seriously lagging behind and they haven't yet updated the data. The best thing you can do is to get rid of your AOL connection.

We just got cable; this problem arose when I was on AOL. Because of parental controls I can't open up IE; it says it "cannot display this page" Just got cable a week ago; this happened maybe three.

Usually only porn or other blocked sites get pics filtered out, blocked out like that. So that's why I asked if this is "kid-unfriendly"

Are the images still blocked?

As Markos has fixed the images (put them on the new server) so that the rest of us can now see them fine.

Yes, AOL is not a good provider, there are several reasons and since time is of the essence, I shall not state them all.

Only a few.

* Flakey connection.

* They get sued alot.

* They send you dozens of spam mail every few hours, not including the mail from the post office.

* They cheat by taking money out of your account after you stopped using their service.

* They lie about their deals and so forth. (most companies do)

* Their software/hardware is buggy.

* They pay people to say that their products are good. (wait is this under the lieing and cheating section?)

Ok I'm finished stating a "few" of them.

Now, what common sense would tell you is "GET ANOTHER PROVIDER".

Well this you can't blame AOL alone. Almost every company does this, it's called "advertising"
