I have been giving the data patch a chance. Hmmm, big changes (not), I had one weak planet invaded on turn 275.
Anyway, I thought the reduced missile warhead damage was helping until:
I rocked in to an enemy system with major defenses with 8 battle groups.
I sent my "disposable" short range attack group ahead and launched fighters at the planet (holding the missile ships until the orbitals appeared).
My 2 long range attach groups were behind the short range group. Each of these was four super dreadnaughts in an armada with a bunch of lightning field armed escorts.
Here comes the first missile salvo. It hits the short range group with only shield damage.
I begin launching missiles and close the gap between the short range and long range groups so they can share PD against the waves of fighters that are rolling in.
THEN...
A missile salvo comes in, skips the short range group and hits a long range group. Result? All four super dreadnaughts blow up, none of the escorts are destroyed.
I am very unhappy, do you know how long it took to build those sDNs? and vow to put MOO on the shelf until the patch comes out.
On to Tropico 2 (senor).

1st off, data patch isnt going to make the AI fight better--you have to wait for the code patch. 2nd orbitals are for planet defense. Dont cry when you lose some good ships. Loses are expected when assaulting a planet. 3rd, as in real life the military targets the larger more powerful equipment ( in moo it would be ships/fleets). Take that out its easier to defeat the enemy. And im sure your ships may have been targeted.
WAIT for the code patch, have patience and your waiting will be rewarded.

"Do you really believe that? "
If all you haters dislike this game and only want to make stupid comments--why do you even bother coming here and posting?
There hasnt been a game i have bought that didnt need HUGE patch fixes.
I think the only one that wasnt real bad was total war mideval.
Hearts of Iron-- a great game-was weak at first. AI really sucked and was boring. After a patch or two that game is awesome.

I didnt get ripped off, i like moo3. There are a few major/minnor bugs but i have patience and can wait for the patch. Because i know once they release that patch moo3 will rock. Plus im not a whinny sniveling crybaby like most people in here.
How can a company rip you off--they didnt force you to buy this game. And you could have returned it.
Im not 100% satisfied with moo3, but i think its a little to much to post your anti-moo3 statements all over the forum. 1 post will do. Repeating the same crap over and over isnt only annoying but its not needed. Quicksilver knows the problems and are working on it to fix. Now its just a waste of time for you to whine about it. If you cant wait a few more days/weeks well thats your problem.
Also this post was more to the line of a person having trouble attacking planets. People rather cry about the game than to admit they have lack of skill. I have never had trouble taking out planets even with smaller force than his. But its always moo3 fault. LOL. And instead of giving advice to the poor guy you rather jump on my for telling him to have patience.
If you guys dislike moo3 so much -try a mod, play multiplayer--i garantee you will get hammered in mp. But crying in the forum this late once we already know they have the code patch 90% complete is just stupid.
waiting for the release of moo3--yes the game should have been perfect--but is acting like a 3 yr old and crying about it really worth your time? LOL.
need a diaper change?

"How can a company rip you off--they didnt force you to buy this game. And you could have returned it."
They brought out an incomplete game that even if patched will in no way meet the expectations of many many fans of the previous MoO games. Many people (like me) bought it without reading through forums or testing it because they didn't think anyone would dare to screw up a Master of Orion game so badly. And because of the long wait I am sure there were tons of preorders. Those people did get ripped off.
And assuming you are an american, there are other parts of the world too, and imported games cannot be returned in most cases. So we were screwed, and have every damn right to express out discomfort with what they did to the poor MoO franchise.
If you like the game, thats good for you. But most people don't, and the fact that the few who do always act like they are the majority and have the morale high ground is what is truly annoying.

Most of the comments on this thread don't even rate a witty response. But try this...
What sound does a dead horse make?
MOO, MOO, MOO.
