Dont mess with texas is the truest state motto of the nation. whats wrong with having pride of where your from? if your state sucks then i understand but texas is known for our pride as if we were our own nation because we were for a time and we are the biggest contiguous state and are home to tons of successful sports teams.

Rich in iron.

NE is part of the Canadian shield and has fossilized Cyanobacterial mats (stromatlites) that are 3 billion years old!

I have no idea which part of California you lived in but the biggest problem we have in the three cities I lived in (San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Irvine) was avoiding getting rear ended by the dumb blonde chick yacking on the cell phone in her BMW.

It's ridiculous to have pride in a place where you happen to have been born. YOU weren't part of the place that was it's own nation for a time.

NBA- Houston 2 championships, San Antonio 1

LA Lakers- 3 in a row!

NFL- Dallas-5

SanFran-5, no losses.

MLB- State of Texas=0

Even the Florida Marlins have wone once.

NHL Dallas Stars- 1

The Islanders won 5 in a row at one time.

All that being said, I can honestly say that Texas has the nicest people out of any state I've been to.

The theory of concentric circles. It's human nature to think in concentric circles, starting with oneself and moving outword. One's family, one's friends, then one's town, county, country, continent...and the circles increase in importance the further to the centre one goes. Anything coming from outside is deistrusted until it's mde its way sufficiently close to the centre to be accepted.
And yet there are a few people - Gandhi, Aung San Suu Kyi, people like that - who can genuinely think outside those circles, wanting (however idealistic and unachievable it may be) the best, not just for their 'group', but for everyone...

Yeah, well. It was Economics. It's like being stoned, only with none of the fun stuff, just the hallucinations.

I have never resally had pride in where I live above the really local level: I don;t know, nor will never know, most people in the state I live in, and I am quite sure that some are nice and some are not, so why should I give a rats ass what they do?

Of course, living in NYC (sorry Elok ), it is hard not to feel pride at the greatness of this place. Unlike Texas, we don;t have to say anything (eve if we do) we just KNOW we are better than you.
