This is more of a PBEM etiquette thing, but MP nonetheless.

I have no idea the "proper" etiquette for PBEM, but you are supposed to let your opponent know when you do something that affects their civ.

My problem is in determining what to let them know about and what not to.

I don't report establishing an embassy, but do report stealing techs.

I do report killing a unit, but not sure if I should report losing a battle.

I don't report establishing a wonder, but with the bug in the game, probably should, as anyone else producing it would lose their shields (AI would change production when the other civ produces the wonder).

In short, there are a bunch of rules under PBEM about etiquette, but I don't know what they are exactly.

(btw, I may be one of those guilty of what Rah refers to above with ICQ. I usually leave my ICQ blank except when requesting to be added to someone's list. "Sparrowhawk" is only the name I go by on Apolyton, so for family members/friends on my ICQ list, they wouldn't know who "Sparrowhawk" is. I leave it blank for that reason and fill in the appropriate name (my real name or an appropriate nick) when I add someone new). I think I asked Rah to add me to his list, as I would like to play in real time with the regular group you all play with, but when I requested, I think I forgot to change my name from blank to "Sparrowhawk" oops! my mistake)

No problem, just send me an icq that says, this is sparrowhawk, and I can change it.

But in general, when others do this, they should not just say civII MP, they should say, civ II MP SPARROWHAWK>

It also helps if they identify themselves with their Apolyton handle... I've got a few for "joe blow"... and I respond I don't know you are, and then they respond. SURE YOU DO... I'M ________ (fill in the blank) from poly.

And yes... I also never send game requests to just "numbers"

I hate it when people insist on sending ICQs during the game when king chat is so much easier. I don't think anybody has ever used the king chat spy option, and most of the time the ICQs aren't even about the game.

It's not that annoying for me since I hide my task bar and have shut off the sound on ICQ... So I never even notice it during a game until way after the fact... I may check at times during the game and see somebody complaining about bad luck in the year 3500, and it's already 1000 bc

I hate people that use hidden task bars.
Nothing worse than getting locked up in the game and sending an ICQ but by the time the person reads it, your turn has been taken by the AI, and the game has to be reloaded to an earlier point.

ain't that the truth...that hidden task bar is a biatch....but we counter that with icq phone...

in fact i hate it when people dont use icq phone when playing...

now we need a system that allows conference calling...that would be fun !!!!

Screw it, I'm running an old version of ICQ also. And it was a pain to get up and running. So as long as it keeps working, I ain't screwing with it. Just load MSM ming, and don't worry about it.

What realy ticks me off is people who will not concede a game even though you have like 40 city's to 4 and all the wonders becouse those 4 city's are on mountains with 5 vet musks each.
