Now that some decisions are needed it's important to have a gathering and information thread for us pirates.

As per the Uni approach there would be a public version of our communication media and a larger and more specific version in our own forum.

The name of our journal is not decided yet. Suggestions welcome and then we'll choose.

So my suggestion 'Shipping News' but also 'Pirate radio' except that it wouldn't be audio. Treasure Island, Skull and Crossbones.

Also post your email here with the pirate anti spam xxx's before and after.

Shipping News is a nice bland title, helpful in our diplomacy. It portrays us as GentleYachtsmen, distracting from our default antisocial image as Bloodthirsty Madmen.

Perhaps our private journal could be "The Black Spot" (one of which should go to Honored Googlie for sinking one of our ships before we even got to crack the champagne on it - gotta keep those *#@%! landlubbers off the dock).

Oh - can I suggest that someone from your faction acts as a "reporter" and gives news stories to PRAVDA. If you want to communicate something to the world, then maybe our readers want to know about it too. But please - once we install an Editoral Deputy to the Peoples' Advisory Council, then we will have no more free press. Articles for PRAVDA in the future should be submitted to the EDttPAC, whoever that turns out to be. We will do the same in response, giving news to the Shipping News in whatever format is requested.

I would like to personally welcome the "Shipping News" into the great melting pot of news angecies all over the world.

I hope and expect that, unlike Pravada, "Shipping News" will be unbiased and fair, just like our news sources.

I assume Tass is referring to PRAVDA, which is of course unbiased, fair, illustrated in colour, soft on the arse and a d@mn good read, unlike the frankly stuffy and intellectuall University Memo. PRAVDA is for the people of Planet. Its is a fun read, and doesn't try to teach or lecture people, but to inform them. Have YOU read PRAVDA today?

A bottle with a message has washed up on our shores. It 's from a MarkG (famous Greek pirate admiral).

Anyhow on the scroll it said we need to appoint someone leader of the pirates for the purposes of conducting our affairs in our private forum- a Forum Moderator. The moderator has some limited powers in the the forum. First allowing access, especially to newcomers and perhaps some editing duties.

The leader may or may not also be the person who plays most of the turns, following discussion.

So register your interest.

Haven't heard from FlameFlash for a while. His last post indicated some problem with emails. But perhaps he is taking a break.

Re name for pirate forum. I am inclined to make it clear for future dgers that the forum is the pirate forum.

I am content with the name Nautilus Pirates, but other names fitting for Planet, might be Pirates of the Shallows, New Sargasso Pirates.
Johnd has suggested Hoi Polloi.

Still open to suggestions and then we'll poll. But quickly please.

Possible choice for leader is myself or FlameFlash.

As for the name, how about just Nautilus Expeditionary Armada(Detachment?) Or basically anything with Nautilus(rather then pirates) if we're going for a "peaceful" approach to "Expeditionary Contact"
